An Amazing FMV with a Sci-Fi Concept I discovered Hello Love: 18 Again through Steam’s recommendations, thanks to my interest in live-action FMV games. The game’s description immediately captured my attention with its intriguing sci-fi twist, and I couldn’t wait to dive in. After completing the main game with 100% achievements and earning a perfect game , I feel confident in sharing my thoughts and offering insight for those who might be curious about what this title has to offer. The Story: You play as Li Tao , once the most brilliant student in the 100 year history of Jinghai University . But as an adult, life hasn’t been kind. You're stuck in a soul crushing job, single, and your only companion is your beloved cat. After an exhausting day at work, you’re involved in a horrific accident only to awaken back in time, inhabiting your 18-year-old self. Now, you’re given a second chance to relive your youth, make different choices, and shape the future you always wished for. The Characters: Shen Mengxuan The standout character for me (Waifu) . Shen Mengxuan is the campus beauty, student council president, and head of the school arts troupe. she is is elegant, cultured, and multi-talented, skilled in music, chess, calligraphy, and painting. She’s the dream girl archetype, but with a refined presence and charisma that makes her more than just a trope. Si Xiaoxiao – The Fierce Cheerleader Si Xiaoxiao is the Head cheerleader and an art student, she is vivacious, seductive, and bold. She’s always warm to those around her and has a huge love for manga, particularly One Piece. Her flirtatious, confident demeanor stands out, and she doesn’t hesitate to go after what (or who) she wants. Lu Yueru – The Devoted Mentor Lu Yueru is your caring and responsible teacher who’s deeply invested in your well-being. Lu Yueru wants you to embrace your youth and live a fulfilling life. She’s selfless, nurturing, but also protective of her own reputation. Her role blends maternal warmth with a hint of emotional complexity. Chu Yao – The Childhood friend Chu Yao is your shy and gentle childhood friend. She is a dedicated gamer who wants to improve her skills with your help. She’s been in love with you ever since you stood up for her in middle school. Though introverted, her feelings are sincere and her affection is deeply touching. Xu Jiajia – The Boss Lady Xu Jiajia is your hardworking, no-nonsense boss. She is wealthy, determined, and knows how to get results. She has a commanding presence and expects to be respected and maybe even admired. A bold, confident character with strong alpha energy. The Translation: The English translation is impressively well done. The dialogue feels natural and easy to follow. The only moment lacking subtitles was a brief phone-recorded scene near the end, but it doesn't detract from the story or create confusion. Overall, it’s one of the better translations I’ve seen in FMV games. Phone and Exploration Mechanics: Many FMV games suffer from clunky interfaces when it comes to text messaging or object interaction. Thankfully, Hello Love: 18 Again avoids this entirely. There’s no tedious exploration or intrusive mechanics just pure narrative immersion, which helps the pacing remain smooth and cinematic throughout. Minigame: There is a section where you play charades with the characters. Unfortunately, this portion is nearly impossible for those unfamiliar with Chinese language and culture. All the answers are in Pinyin , with no context clues, making it a guessing game for non-Chinese players. While it doesn’t ruin the experience, it may cause frustration if you're aiming for 100% completion. Final Thoughts: Overall, Hello Love: 18 Again delivers an outstanding FMV experience. The production values are top-tier, the writing is compelling, and the performances are heartfelt and memorable. Whether you're a longtime FMV fan or just discovering the genre, this game is absolutely worth your time. Message to 念念而忘 (Indelible Studio): I genuinely look forward to your future projects. Genuinely a very good FMV dating game thanks to the story, admirers, and endings, although sadly the audio and technical issues take it down a notch. The story begins with the player-character, Li Tao, getting hit by a truck after working at his corporate job. His cat, XiaoXue, is a sort of feline deity who can take control of people and somehow manages to give Li Tao another chance at life. Li Tao is sent back to 2017, when he was 18 and in college. He has 30 days to find love, or he will die. No pressure. XiaoXue occasionally possesses humans to remind Li Tao of the stakes. The narrative explores some deeper themes than others in the genre. The first is predictably regret about missing out on love during the school years. It also touches on how becoming an adult can drive out joy. Other themes include trust, communication, relationship experience, age differences, and social status. None are forced and instead are nice undercurrents. There are quite a few funny scenes too, including when four admirers come to your room one-by-one. A total of five great admirers enter Li Tao’s life. Three are classmates, including an energetic cheerleader, a wealthy student, and a younger friend. Two of the admirers are older, with a motherly teacher and a domineering boss. Their distinct personalities are good and most have their own internal struggles and core principles. The actresses do a fantastic job, which is no surprise given two have been in these games before. The actress for Chu Yao was in Exclusive Memory and the one for Lu Yue Ru was in Secrets of the Heartbeat. Both arguably do a better job this time but probably because of the writing. The acting is up to Knowledge or Know Lady level, which means it is top tier. It will take just under 4 hours to reach the finale, which is longer than average. And there is another 6 hours to view everything else, so although this is priced higher it is worth it. The branching paths are done well and the endings are probably the best in the genre. After picking an admirer, there is approximately 30 minutes of end content per admirer . That includes happy and sad endings. A few of the sad endings are phenomenal and blow other games out of the water. Many perfect ones are fantastic too, with wholesome slice of life scenes, so the conclusions are a huge positive. One great feature is that you can highlight the paths which give affinity, which helps when replaying. The video quality is good too, although it could be crisper in some scenes. Sadly the biggest issue is that the game uses ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) for everything. The sound team have added footsteps, traffic, etc. but even the best ADR will never be as good as decent live audio, in my opinion. And the lip syncing is sometimes out so this is not the best case. There are some translation issues too, including short scenes with no subtitles. Bizarrely there were a few crashes and black screens, which required replaying segments. It even had some long delays when picking choices (5+ seconds) which may be due to communicating with an overloaded server. Despite these obvious problems, it is nearly a must play for genre fans. I have completed the game 100%, unlocking all achievements. It's a great game, especially compared to other FMV games. Truly, it makes me feel as indecisive as Li Tao, unsure of who I really like. But in the end, a life with Teacher Lu is truly what I desire. Thumbs up for the efforts of the girls and the game developers!

It's a good game. There weren't any really big or annoying bugs; the game worked the way it was supposed to. The characters are what you would expect from a game like this. They follow the standard personalities of this type of game. The girls are pretty, and the acting was good enough. The game has some more "stupid" moments and clichés, but it also gives some good life advice. In regards to the English translation, it's MTL, but "good" MTL. There are some things that aren't translated, but it's only a bit in chapter 2, and some choices in chapter either 4 or 5(can't remember). It took me around 11 hours to finish and see everything in the game, so you can probably expect at least to play this game for 9 hours. Although I recommend this game, the price is somewhat high, so I would probably wait for a sale. If this is your first game of this genre, there are better games for cheaper, so play those while you wait for a sale.

The price is a bit expensive, but luckily, it was 20% off, which made it worth it. Despite the cost, I believe it was worth playing this game. The story is touching, the music sets the mood perfectly, and the way it reflects Chinese culture is impressive. However, I noticed some bugs, such as the lack of English subtitles in certain parts, like the scene with Xu JiaJia and the other guy at the restaurant (though I'm not sure if this issue is just on my end). Great acting, bravo to the actors of the gameplay.
