I really enjoyed this game! The level design is absolutely amazing, the music sounds great, and the game itself is very fun to play. Also, I really like that you collect a key from the panda that you use to open a chest at the bottom of the sea in order to start the game. I also really like that there are things that you click on that take you to other areas where you can find more snails. I definitely recommend this game!

Going into this, I kind of assumed 100 Hidden Turtles would be exactly like all those 100 Cat games that took over Steam (funnily enough, from what I’ve gathered, 100 Hidden Turtles actually came first by almost two years). Cute artwork, simplistic but fun gameplay, and the 0% to 100% completion runtime being roughly ten minutes (if we’re generous). And even though I only got two outta three right, I’m still a bit baffled by the price tag, which certainly isn’t expensive (you can’t even buy a pack of McNuggets for $3.99), but is four times more than almost any other hidden animal game. Is it because turtles are just objectively so much cooler than cats (or dogs, or frogs, or snails)? Y’know, it could be! Hey , listen to this, it’s gonna blow your mind : you see , your main objective in 100 Hidden Turtles is to find all one hundred of the hidden turtles. I see you’re still in shock, so I’ll give you a few moments to process that . . . . . aight. So the gameplay couldn’t be any easier; move the mouse, find the turtle, and click on it. Do that a hundred more times. What makes this ( ever so slightly ) more complicated than say the 100 Cat games is that not only is the picture a lot bigger (meaning you have to scroll down a bit to get to the bottom), but there are also multiple secret pictures within the one ocean map. You can explore the submarine, for instance, or you can barge into some Octopus Dude’s house and trash their living room ; all in the name of turtlez . (those aren’t the only other two locations, by the way). Even with a larger picture and several other smaller secrets, the game is definitely not difficult. Most of the turtles are in plain sight, and I found like 90 of them in like five minutes ……. BUT , there are a couple of tricky ones… A few of the turtles swim around and stuff, and while it’s all pattern based, there were two or three in the ]darkest spot of the abyss that were kind of challenging. However, the biggest trial by far was also one of the stupidest ; I spent nearly 20 minutes looking for the very last turtle, and it was just underneath the Octopus Dude’s house the whole time. But I beat it! It took roughly half an hour, which is much longer than I initially thought! I did see a review, though, of a guy who said that his eight year old son found every turtle in less than ten minutes. Does that mean I’m dumber than an eight year old?? (I’m sure everyone who read my Dementium: The Ward review already assumed that). Never mind that. This is good fun! Super easy, super casual, but still good fun! 100 Hidden Turtles is both better but slightly worse than its distant 100 Cat cousins when it comes to production value. Let’s start with the positives, and the most obvious : the game is in color. The bright hues of the coral mixed with the water’s softer shades of blue looks very pleasing, as is all the fish and other sea life swimming everywhere. The turtles (the main attraction!) look adorable, and have some pretty silly poses. They don’t make any kind of sound when you click on them (unlike the Cat games with the meows), so that’s slightly disappointing; although, I admittedly don’t know what kind of sound a turtle makes. ...hissing? I’ll look it up. The music is really upbeat and catchy, and the entire ocean is invited to the dance party. Bubbles popping, seaweed vibing, fish jumping, practically everything on screen is in sync to the music. All of this sounds great, but I’ve got some nitpicks. While the art is really well done, it feels noticeably less detailed than its competition; like, it gives off Kids’ Menu energy. I also wish that each turtle had an individual name like in the Cat games, but ah well. still nice. 100 Hidden Turtles is kind of like buying a coloring book mixed with an I-Spy book, only to find out after purchase that the book only has like five pages. I suppose that’s really no different than all the other 100 Animal Games , and it still lives up to its title (oh my gosh, you’re saying there’s a hundred hidden turtles in 100 Hidden Turtles???) but I was kind of hoping for more. The art style is adorable, the music is catchy, and turtlez are e p i c , but… do I really recommend buying it for four bucks? No. I recommend buying it for one buck. Get it on sale! And then you could spot all the wittle turtles!

This was a short and sweet game but enjoyed the variety from black n white to the transition to color. Some fun interactive click on levels. Overall not hard but still pretty fun. Would recommend.
