Quick clarification up front — because I’m consistent about this: I usually only review games I have beaten. Among Us VR doesn’t have an ending to beat. What it does have is enough completed matches to know exactly how stressful lying becomes when you’re standing face-to-face with your friends. Among Us VR works because it commits fully to what VR does best: presence. This isn’t just Among Us with a headset on — it fundamentally changes how the game feels. Being physically close to someone who’s accusing you, watching head movement, body language, and hesitation in real time… it turns suspicion into something personal. What people (and I) like: VR adds tension in a way flat versions can’t. Tasks feel physical, kills feel shocking, and proximity voice chat creates moments that are genuinely hilarious or panic-inducing. When you’re cornered in a hallway or someone stares at you just a little too long, your instincts kick in — even if you’re innocent. With friends, this is where Among Us feels the most alive it’s ever been. The social reads, fake confidence, and awkward silences are all amplified in VR. Where it falls apart: Comfort and accessibility are the biggest issues. Not everyone can handle long VR sessions, and motion discomfort can be a problem depending on movement settings. Public lobbies can also be rough — trolls, mic issues, and uneven player behavior hit harder in VR than in flat versions. There’s also a learning curve. New VR players can feel overwhelmed, and matches can slow down when people are still figuring out controls. Still, when everything clicks — good lobby, good mics, good pacing — it’s hard to go back to the non-VR versions. Pros: VR presence massively increases tension Proximity voice chat is a game-changer Body language becomes part of gameplay Incredible with friends Cons: Requires VR hardware (obviously) Comfort/motion issues for some players Public lobbies can be chaotic Learning curve for new VR users Verdict: The most immersive version of Among Us — not the most accessible, but easily the most intense when played the right way.
