I need to give the thumbs up to this game. It is a great unifying story unfoldng over multiple eras and family trees set in a non-linear fashion with great depth. At first, I was super baffled how it presents itself until I started diving deep into the stories of the people I was seeing on my screen. I even restarted the game a few times to optimize my start because I thought I was encountering bugs or doing something wrong but it is really this game's way - you explore everything simultaneously over all the eras of this US town. The only negative I see in this game is the requirement to know history. Even as Bulgarian, I know enough of the US history to understand why the events transpire the way they do - and they made total sense to me. After 25% I hope they add even more ages and eras to this game. I am only 25% in but it is great in providing the best thing any detective story does - give you a standpoint, then start building it around, throw some curve balls, give you a deep dive in some characters, then show you even more without clear direction how the story will unfold... After 100%: The game spans over the course of around 11 000 years, but in a nice, non+linear fashion - so you don't start from neolithic and finish in modern, but go from era to era to follow how the stories of the characters unfold and how to they matter in the great scheme of things. This is where the storytelling really shines - you will immediately catch on to events that transpired in another era and how they affected this one, and why. I am very, very impressed by this game. If the early access is anything to go by, this will be a great narrative game with stories that span decades worth exploring and finding out how they ended. Was the character an alturist? Did they become a psychopath? Or a powermonger? Or just gave up? With this game anything is possible, and I am here for it - and a ton of bonus points to the devs for the ability to speed up the game, and not make you wait for hours for the next story bit. THANK YOU!

First of all if you are not from the USA you will miss 75% of the references. It is more of the book than a game. The game part of it is weird. Respect to the devs for going for something innovative rather than bland more of the same.

Asbury Pines is a classic idler with a murder mystery storyline twist. I found myself churning through the first 6 or so hours of gameplay to unlock as much story as I could. The mechanics and resource gathering are somewhat straightforward but when future or past resources intersect it becomes a web that requires true management. It's an idler that brings a more complex strategic resource management aspect to it. The story is immersive and well written and it's what ultimately keeps you coming back even if you have to wait 4-6 hours for the next tidbit of information to reveal itself. Ultimately without the story, this would be a classic click by click idler that could be easily replaced by any of the popular idlers, but Asbury Pines sucks you into these character arcs and history of the town through impressive story telling. If you enjoy this genre, or are a casual gamer who enjoys a good murder mystery I would highly recommend Asbury Pines

Always love supporting something interesting from small dev teams. Was an idler the best way to tell this story? Well, I don't think I would be getting emotional about a gull on a Friday morning before work otherwise. Try this one out.
