A stunning game that draws you in and doesn't let go from the very first minute. It has an engaging storyline, beautiful music, and graphics. I hope the developers continue to support and develop this game; it has great potential

This game is very mediocre, but worth picking up on steep sale if you like puzzle battlers. Main issue: it looks like a deck-building game but it isn't really. While there are four sets of decks to pull from, you're heavily incentivized not to mix and match. On top of that, the number of options within each deck is quite limited (I count 11 unique unit cards in the completed starter deck and you only have 10 units total at a time in your deck) and many cards are explicitly much stronger than others. Instead of building a fun synergistic and unique deck, you're basically either just dumping all the strongest cards you have in, or building it specifically to manage a certain puzzle. The other issue is, a lot of the time your losses are due to bad rng or, most commonly, because the game introduces a change in the middle of the match that you weren't aware was coming, and so you're basically doomed to lose at least once or twice. If not that, it's because a mechanic is not fully explained properly, and it takes a couple of tries to learn how things function. That wouldn't be so bad, except the game is punishes you storywise for failure - very frustrating when it doesnt feel like a loss was really your fault. Still, I do recommend it on steep sale because at the end of the day the story/art/music all held my attention despite the frustration, and I did have fun. It is very satisfying to finally figure out how to puzzle your way through a fight with some clever card swaps after failing repeatedly.

I really enjoyed Ash of Gods. It definitely forces you to think. Each level is like a unique puzzle that must be solved by crafting the right deck for the job. As a result, this plays like a very unique card battler. I have played many games of this genre and this was something different and a breath of fresh air in terms of how it plays. Also, the music is great. The art is great. If you enjoy some challenge and can accept having to vary your approach from one battle to the next, this is going to be a very fun game for you.

Such catching gameplay. Simple strategy game at the surface but it continuously evolves, introducing new elements in every fight from start to finish. While it begins slowly, the pace quickly escalates as you acquire more units and spells. The story is nice but the writing at the beginning was just so bad I switched game to Spanish. But the characters eventually grew on me as the narrative progressed, and I began to appreciate it. It really helps that what you say and do has consequences. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this hidden gem.

This is a solid, fun game. The gameplay is unique, and does a really good job of keeping aspects of each of the major factions relevant throughout the game. You get stronger and gain more options, but you still don't lose a footing in strategies that worked before, which is a tough balance to strike. One of the major factions, the last one in the main game, is clearly weaker than the others - on hard mode at least - but even they provide a few useful options. The story integrates with the gameplay in interesting ways, and contains distinct, meaningful arcs for almost all major characters. I have some issues with the ending - it's not especially clear how or why reputation plays into the final outcome - but it's at least a satisfying reward if you manage to overcome the game's challenges. There are a few fights that stand out as extremely difficult, but overall, almost every fight hits the balance of interesting, but surmountable challenge. Most of the negative reviews I've seen boil down to some form of "this game is too hard" - especially the ones complaining about rng. If you have a solid grasp of tactics, you can 1-2 try most battles of the game on hard mode, even through poor rng.
