8/10. Cute casual game that's great for relaxing and watching youtube videos in the background while playing. Gameplay is an auto-battler with the player mainly coming up with choices that will either increase or decrease their long term success. Long-term and short term planning are both necessary, and quite enjoyable. I don't find the game particularly engaging past the point of "wait for RNG to give me the right items/events to succeed, then succeed with the RNG items I have", which sometimes doesn't really work out when you just keep getting low level or irrelevant gear for your party. Still, it's fun. Easily Worth the price of admission

This is my comfort auto-battler for sure. Just hop in when bored and start. Also, Frostmancer - I was sold. Great little gem ♥

This is a gem. You build a team of heroes starting with 3 and ending with 5 at the third act. Since all of them are always available, a big part of the strategy begins right at the starting screen, it's even quite possible to plan your full 5 man team there and have it actually end up be as you imagined. The variance comes from the items you find along the way. There are like 40 of each rarity and it's hard to trust you'll find a specific uncommon (let alone a rare), or at least find it by the time you really need it. Most items are radically different, and their upgrades are big power spikes. Items are really what define your run: they force you to modify your hero picks and layout, they define who'll be a beast and who'll be support, they turn gold into an interesting resource. The game balance is quite good, and randomness in battle is very mild. I really enjoyed how the lose condition is handled, you can lose a streak of fights and still make a comeback. The game just clicks beatifully. This is the first auto-battler I played and it's great, great, fantastic. The heroes feel distinct and play out their power fantasies. But this also creates a bad thing: I feel that almost all of them feel too stuck on the roles they're obsviously designed for. It's either damage, tank, or healer, while everyone can do some support role in a sense. And your team (almost) always needs to cover the roles, there's very little flexibility in that. And finally some of the enemies feel a bit bland, like I've beaten the game at max level and I think I never bothered/needed to really understand what some of them do. ----------------------------------- 8/10 I still come back to this game once in a while

It's a decent game, it's fun looking for items and thinking that it would be cracked or good on a certain character. A lot of items are niche and requires certain characters to be good or used effectively, take that as a positive or a negative but it's a staple in rogue-like/lites with multiple characters. I'd say it takes more thinking than the average auto-battler since almost none of the items in the game are straight up broken, some characters are better than others but that's because they deal with the game's morale mechanic. 8/10.

Astronarch is hands down one of my favorite games I've ever played. Clocking in around 50 hours to achieve 100% completion, it has been an incredibly rewarding journey. This simple yet captivating roguelite game possesses a charm that sets it apart from others in the genre. From the moment I started, I was drawn into Astronarch's linear combat and storytelling. The gameplay mechanics are straightforward, making it easy to pick up and play, but the depth of strategy required to master it kept me engaged for hours on end. Each run is unique, filled with a variety of characters and abilities that offer endless combinations and strategies. One of the standout features of Astronarch is its art style. Despite being super simple and pixelated, the visuals are incredibly charming and perfectly complement the game's whimsical tone. What truly makes Astronarch shine, however, is its charm. The game doesn't take itself too seriously, which adds a layer of lightheartedness that is both refreshing and endearing. Despite its simplicity, Astronarch manages to deliver a satisfying and challenging roguelite experience that is both fun and addictive. In conclusion, if you're a fan of roguelite games or just looking for something new and engaging, Astronarch is definitely worth your time. Its charming pixelated visuals and captivating gameplay make it a standout title that I wholeheartedly endorse.
