March 2026
Ballex, developed and published by Mushreb Games, is a physics-based puzzle platformer that takes a very simple idea—rolling a ball across suspended platforms—and turns it into a surprisingly demanding and often tense experience. At first glance, it feels like a straightforward homage to classic balance-and-precision games, but as you spend more time with it, the depth comes not from complexity of mechanics, but from how carefully it asks you to control movement, momentum, and positioning. The core gameplay revolves around guiding a ball through floating levels filled with narrow paths, shifting platforms, and environmental hazards. Movement is smooth and responsive, but also highly sensitive, meaning that even slight adjustments can have noticeable consequences. This sensitivity is where much of the challenge comes from. Early levels ease you into the mechanics, offering wider paths and forgiving layouts, but as the game progresses, the margin for error shrinks dramatically. What begins as a calm balancing act gradually becomes a test of precision, where every movement needs to be deliberate. A key feature that adds variety to the gameplay is the ability to change the ball’s form. Each form behaves differently, altering factors like speed, weight, and stability. This mechanic introduces a layer of strategy, as certain sections are better approached with a specific type of ball. It’s not overly complicated, but it’s enough to keep the experience from feeling completely one-dimensional. Learning when and how to switch forms becomes an important part of navigating more complex levels. The level design is one of the game’s strongest elements. Each stage feels carefully constructed, with obstacles placed in a way that challenges both your control and your awareness of space. The environments are suspended high above expansive skies, which adds a constant sense of tension—falling is always a possibility, and often the consequence of even a small mistake. As the game advances, the levels become more intricate, introducing moving parts, tighter pathways, and fewer safety barriers. This progression creates a steady increase in difficulty that feels natural, even if it can become quite punishing. Visually, Ballex adopts a clean and atmospheric style that complements its gameplay. The environments are not overly detailed, but they are visually pleasing, with open skies, varied lighting, and subtle environmental changes that keep each level distinct. The simplicity works in its favor, ensuring that the player’s focus remains on the path ahead rather than being distracted by unnecessary detail. The soundtrack and ambient effects support this, creating a calm backdrop that contrasts with the tension of the gameplay. One of the more notable aspects of the game is its inclusion of a level editor and community support. Players can create their own stages and share them, extending the life of the game beyond its built-in content. While the main campaign offers a solid set of levels, the addition of user-generated content adds variety and replayability, especially for those who enjoy experimenting with new challenges or designing their own. However, the game is not without its flaws. The difficulty curve, while gradual, can become quite steep in later stages. The precision required can feel unforgiving, and repeated failures may lead to frustration, particularly when progress is lost due to small errors. While checkpoints help mitigate this, the overall experience still demands a high level of patience. Additionally, while the core mechanics are solid, they do not evolve significantly over time, which can make the gameplay feel repetitive during longer sessions. Despite these limitations, Ballex succeeds in delivering a focused and rewarding experience. It doesn’t rely on narrative or complex systems to engage the player—instead, it builds its appeal around mastery. Each successful run feels earned, and overcoming a difficult section provides a strong sense of accomplishment. It’s a game that rewards persistence and careful control, making it particularly appealing to players who enjoy skill-based challenges. In the end, Ballex is a well-crafted puzzle platformer that excels in its simplicity while offering a surprising level of depth through its physics and level design. It may not appeal to everyone, especially those who prefer more forgiving gameplay, but for players willing to embrace its challenge, it offers a satisfying and engaging experience that stands out within its niche. This is a decent game if you like marbles. Don't get fooled though the levels are pretty hard after chapter 1.

Much better version of the Ballance (while having its own minor UX issues).
