It's worth keeping in mind that this is a port from mobile. It shows a bit, but not in a way that you would expect because it is a more improved port with some added features. The closest thing I can compare the gameplay to is an older game with a focus on powerups like Nascar Rumble. The physics are very much in tune for getting blasted off the course with a missile, every character has their own innate powerup, and the mods outside of the standard adventure even have a selection screen for adding or removing weapons as seen fit. I am very surprised Combat Racing is not in the common tags for this game. That said, it's part of the fun with Beach Buggy Racing 2. Sometimes races are very random because of the power up focus, but between the lax island vibes and the resulting chaos making every hit very satisfying you're just having too much fun to really care. It makes for a nice "turn your brain off" kind of kart racer, the kind you don't really see too much of anymore (especially on Steam) because everyone would rather play Mario Kart.

awesome game where you (usually) race buggies on a beach (though there are more maps), this definitely has a lot more options than the mobile game like being able to customise what powerups you can use in a race, the amount of laps, drivers, etc. got a few neat gamemodes too whereas bbr2 mobile only has one. you do cups to win drivers instead of battling them one-on-one which i think is better because you can always retry later if you fail and there's a margin for error (so if you lose one race and win the next 3 you can still win the driver). its even got (local) multiplayer (none of the beach buggy games support online multiplayer :/ genuinely if they added that id be on one knee) up to EIGHT PEOPLE! though you need controllers but if you dont have an extra controller thats a you problem. there are even 4 difficulty options (like. heh. ultrakill? (ultrakill has 5 man)) overall this feels like a really good dlc to the original game and a love letter to the beach buggy racing series in general and i just love every aspect of it great job vector unit!

Lot's of content and that's not including the DLC. Some of the unlocks are a bit of a grind. Races can get a bit chaotic with all the items and character powers. If you're gonna try and unlock everything I would recommend checking out the steam discussions and guides to make your life a little easier. There are some bugs with achievements and for the Hotwheels DLC two of the paint cans you find to unlock paint are just straight up not in the game so those paints are forever locked unless the devs fix it.

If you like cart racing games like Mario Cart 8 but you want to play on PC this is the game for you. This game is not as refined as Mario Cart 8 but a lot more fun in my opinion. Great to play by yourself or with friends.
