For the price I'd say the value is there for the time you can get out of this game. I really, really wish there was more, however. The art design is great, the characters are fun and campy, the pace can get very hectic and despite the game having an auto-shoot function (which can be toggled off before a mission) aim still matters in regards to hitting particular enemies or going for headshots. I don't think this game is unfinished but I do think it finished too quick- but that could be for many reasons, what is here is clearly fleshed out and understands what it's doing but it's better that it is complete rather than something in perpetual early access with a dev update once a year. I think that the global upgrades are a bit slow for how long you'll spend with the game. If there were more episodes or replayability I'd consider it more evenly paced but you'd have to really play a lot of this game to put much progress into the global upgrades. You just don't get enough gems for the cost of those upgrades (and there is no refund option which could be a very deliberate choice but I found it made me less likely to try upgrades out that weren't sure-fire improvements like global damage increases or XP gain). There is also the fact that banish/rerolls are consumable items (though not necessarily too expensive they do seem like you want to use them sparingly because of their cost. Off the top of my head I believe they cost 100 gems and you bring in around 400-800 gems depending on how focused you are on going after them and RNG with chests. I feel that you rapidly unlock weapons and spells which bloats the pool for level-ups and can make it hard to upgrade or even grab a particular weapon or spell you want. Some characters have a narrower selection (and slots) for weaponry (or spells) which can help a bit but by and large I feel like there's a lot less control in what weapons I would like to use versus what I'm given. There is also a consumable for revives (max of 3) but they cost around a thousand gems so you're probably only going to buy them if you're having trouble with a particular boss. I feel that if you are used to DOOM games or just FPS games and the need to be moving constantly (the game features an anti-camp mechanic that will punish you if you stick to one spot too long but the time it takes to activate shows it's clearly meant to keep you from exploiting an advantageous position for too long (IE utterly unable to be hit or at least extremely safe) but I've only had it pop up a handful of times because I'm usually running around evading attacks and blasting enemies and chasing down XP orbs and gems but there are certain enemies who can hurt you very badly if you aren't moving. I had my fun with it and I really hope we get more be it DLC or a sequel. There's a lot of talent shown in this game and I'd love to have more of it to explore. That's the best problem to have, I guess, to be left wanting more rather than entirely exhausted or burned out. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Captain Reddit's retarded quips almost made me refund this game. Never make your starting character an annoying fucking Redditor, please. Pretty damn good once you unlock the other characters.

Tried the demo and it was surprisingly good. Ended up grabbing the full game, and it’s definitely a cool experience. Tougher than it looks, but in a good way. For the price, it delivers more fun than expected. It’s simple, challenging, and you can unlock different characters, some are witty and sarcastic, which I really liked. The old school upgrade and skill system is a nice touch too. So yeah, I’d say it’s worth your time and your munneh.

Good, I guess. Pros: -Looks good, feels good -Lots of maps -well crafted. interesting set pieces -custom game mode is a'ight Cons: -Bizarre design decisions across the board -Hold 3-4 weapons but you'd never want more than two, and usually you're best off with just one. -Synergies don't really exist, so just pick the objectively best skill each upgrade. -No real builds, again just pick the objectively best skill -Many characters, but there is little difference in their abilities and game play, just pick the objectively best one (see a theme here?) -more than half the of the interesting skills are locked into late game well after you've beat the game and lost interest (bizarre) -They mislead the player to thinking there is a 3rd act, but it's just a custom game mode -The meta progression is pretty 'meh' and the costs of upgrades vary wildly, if you're a thinky-boy you will identify the best meta upgrades and obtain them quickly and leave the garbage overpriced stuff -CONSUMABLE 'holds' & 'locks', meaning you have to buy new one EACH RUN. One of them costs TEN TIMES as much as the other. again fucking bizarre. Want to play with strategy? it will cost you an entire run worth gems to do so, so naturally just don't play strategically because the dev is incentivising you not to. -needs more types of enemies -healing is RNG, sometimes you simply won't have a way to heal and will VERY likely just die through attrition damage late into the game, incredibly frustrating -readability could be improved late into matches when lots of doods are on screen -the voice acting, immediately turned that shit off Typical game play loop: 1)Pick the objectively best starter weapon, I mean character. 2)RNG upgrades, hope for starter weapon upgrades, then hope for the objectively best skills, then pray to your chosen deity for the passive health regen skill before things get too hairy. Last resort, pick the healing spell if you cant get the regen, cry 3)run around the map looking for your weapon upgrade workbench, it doesn't cost anything to upgrade but needs to be a certain level. why cant it just upgrade automatically on level since it is free anyways? who knows. Anyways, find that workbench and again pray to your chosen deity for a life steal related upgrade (did you remember to pick the objectively best character at the start? cuz if you didn't your weapon cant roll life steal) 4)OK you're ~8minutes in, you've either hit life gen/steal and 4+levels on your starter weapon; Good job, you need to finish the remaining 22 minutes by face tanking every mob in the game until you win. Otherwise, bad job idiot, you can now begin a slow painful death as you desperately plead with god for any kind of healing. I'm gonna be honest, I don't really want to give a positive review. I am going to though as there is a lot of potential in this game, the bones are there. The game looks and feels great. But it really isn't going to tickle that 'survivors' style game play that you're probably looking for. It's a cheap, shallow imitation right now simply because of poor balance and poor design decisions. I hope a patch comes along a cleans this all up. $5 sale on launch, if it were any higher I would not recommend

Oh this is gonna be something special. It's a tad light on content still but completely understandable with it being early access. It FEELS really good and the aesthetic is on point. When it's 1 AM on a work night and you've got me wondering if I could do one more round, you're doing something right.
