I enjoyed this game. It was quite entertaining. Could have been harder. Could have been longer. Could have felt less like a clone of The Room games. I recommend it, on sale. It's fun and has a decent story and a weird ending.

Boxes: Lost Fragments is a puzzle game where you play as a thief who, sent to retrieve an item from a mansion, find yourself locked in and have to solve a series of puzzle boxes to finish your mission and get out. I thought the puzzles varied in difficulty but were generally on the easy side, although there were a few more challenging ones thrown in here and there. There were a couple of places where I got a little stuck , but most of the time that was because I had trouble figuring out the right way to move something, or because I was trying to do something I didn't actually have all the pieces for yet. This game opts for a lot of relatively simple puzzle boxes rather than a smaller number of more complex puzzles. The first chapter is a tutorial, but the following four chapters have a larger puzzle room and four puzzle boxes each. Each of the puzzle boxes has a different theme, and I enjoyed seeing the variety in the different styles. They didn't always vary as much in puzzles, and a few of the simpler puzzle types repeated a few times throughout the boxes. At one point I saved and quit in the middle of a puzzle box, and when I came back there were a couple of things I thought I had done already that were undone. It didn't set back my progress by much, but I was stuck for a little while looking for something new to do when I actually just needed to redo one of the things I thought I had already done. This game reminded me a lot of The Room. The games have similar puzzles and are light on story, and both tell their stories through a series of notes found throughout the levels. The stories also both start out telling about a scientist who discovers a mysterious, supernatural element. Boxes is longer but simpler, and less creepy but also less atmospheric. Overall, Boxes: Lost Fragments is an enjoyable solve-the-box puzzle game that is on the easy side but not boring. I liked it, and I thought the boxes were pretty, but it needed some better music, atmosphere, or more of a challenge to really stand out. 7/10

I would recommend playing Boxes before The Room series. Nothing beats The Room. Although Boxes is a good game, I do wish it was longer and a little more intricate. However, a good game.

fun puzzles, decently interesting story, hot robot, but ultimately far too easy, and also no optional hidden things. get it if it's on sale, otherwise i don't think it would really be worth it.

I am sometimes on the lookout for games like The Room series, and this fit the bill for me. It's not as hard or engaging as the Room, but it sure is pretty. Nice way to spend a couple of hours.
