March 2026
Buried is a compact first-person horror puzzle game that builds its entire experience around a single, suffocating idea: waking up trapped inside a coffin with no memory and very little time. Developed and published by Authogin, it wastes no effort on exposition or buildup, instead placing the player immediately into a situation defined by darkness, panic, and urgency. This abrupt start is one of its most effective qualities, as it strips away any sense of comfort and forces the player to confront the scenario head-on. There is no gradual escalation—only the immediate realization that survival depends on quick thinking under pressure. The gameplay is intentionally confined, both physically and mechanically. Everything takes place within the narrow interior of the coffin, and this limitation becomes the foundation of the experience rather than a constraint. Players must interact with their surroundings, searching for tools, deciphering small puzzles, and piecing together a path to escape. The mechanics themselves are straightforward, relying on object interaction and basic problem-solving, but they are elevated by the constant awareness of limited resources. Light sources such as a phone or lighter are finite, and oxygen is steadily depleting, turning every action into a calculated decision. Even hesitation can feel dangerous, as the sense of urgency is ever-present. What makes Buried particularly effective is how it uses pressure to enhance otherwise simple puzzles. The tasks you perform are not overly complex, but they are framed within a context that makes them feel significantly more intense. Searching for an item or trying to interpret a clue becomes stressful when every second matters. The game does not rely on traditional horror elements like enemies or jump scares; instead, it builds tension through confinement and the fear of running out of time. This creates a form of psychological horror that feels grounded and immediate, as the threat is not something external, but the situation itself. Atmosphere plays a crucial role in maintaining immersion. The sound design is especially effective, with heavy breathing, subtle environmental noises, and moments of silence that emphasize the isolation of the setting. The visuals, while simple, serve their purpose well, focusing on the cramped interior and reinforcing the feeling of being trapped. There is a deliberate lack of variety in the environment, but this works in the game’s favor, as it keeps the player’s attention fixed on their immediate surroundings. The result is an experience that feels intensely personal, almost claustrophobic in its presentation. However, the game’s biggest limitation is its brevity. Buried is a very short experience, often completed in a single sitting, which means it does not have much room to expand on its ideas. While the short runtime prevents the concept from becoming repetitive, it also leaves the experience feeling somewhat incomplete. There is a hint of replayability through minor variations in puzzles and solutions, but the overall structure remains largely the same. Once the player has experienced the core scenario, there is little new content to discover beyond refining their approach or improving their efficiency. The narrative is similarly minimal. While the premise is strong, the game offers very little context or explanation for the situation. This lack of detail can add to the mystery, but it also limits the emotional impact, as there is little connection to the character or their circumstances beyond the immediate need to escape. The story feels more like a setup than a fully explored idea, leaving players with questions that remain unanswered by the time the experience concludes. Despite these shortcomings, Buried succeeds in delivering a focused and memorable experience. It demonstrates how a simple concept, when executed with clarity and intention, can create genuine tension without relying on complex systems or extended playtime. The game understands its strengths and builds around them, offering a short but intense journey that leaves a lasting impression through its atmosphere and design. In the end, Buried is best appreciated as a concise, concept-driven horror experience. It does not attempt to be expansive or deeply narrative-driven, but instead refines a single idea and presents it effectively. While its limited scope prevents it from reaching greater depth, it remains a compelling example of how minimalism can be used to create a powerful sense of immersion. For players looking for a brief but impactful horror experience, it delivers exactly what it promises, even if it leaves you wishing there was more to uncover. Rating: 7/10

Fun short horror escape, subtle jump scares, good atmosphere for what's happening. I wish it was longer but I enjoyed it regardless. If you're claustrophobic, now is the time to face your fears.

A really unique escape room horror game, very short but very enjoyable with good puzzles and excellent suspense. A couple of bugs that might make you restart but it's a short enough game it doesn't matter. Overall a good game, especially considering how quickly it was made by the dev!
