No, it's not a joke. Yes, the concept is ridiculous - and the game is well-aware of this, and revels in it. "Why chicken-headed policemen in a Noir setting?" "Why not?" As a result, it has a little bit of everything. There's Zootopia/Beastars style social commentary with species being stand-ins for social groups, there are honest-to-Cthulhu Noir tropes being played completely straight (well, mostly), there are some actually funny jokes about animal people ('two koks in a brothel", horse bartender - cuz yknow, why the long face)... and then there's great buddy cop dynamic and a legitimately gripping story. I'd even say that if you replaced the animal heads with humans, the story'd still work. But that'd be boring; the weirdness of it all adds some delicious spice, mainly because the world is carefully constructed around, well, animal people. It's less about the classic 'predator/prey' dichotomy, and more about specieist stereotyping, brutal discrimination against insects, large-scale conflicts just to get meat... you can mostly skip this stuff if you don't care, but it's there, and I loved it. The characters are great, too. Pretty much everyone is interesting and lovable - yes, even the villains. But who is a villain? Who can you trust? This is a legitimate noir story - this question is something that'll keep you on your toes through the entire ride. And then you'll watch a chicken look at his expression reflected in a rain-soaked car window, delivering some kind of poignant monologue, and you'll laugh and sympathise at the same time. I don't know how that's possible, but here you go. It's pretty spicy, too. There are some very risque pictures in the game - mostly photographs of actual human women with, well, animal heads and occasionally a tail and some fur - and these ladies aren't wearing much. Or anything. The spicy bits are still covered, and the pictures are very classy, but just be aware: the game has a very European attitude to human (uh... animal) sexuality (and thank f*ck for that). In fact, the writing in general is pretty good, and very, uhm, human. This is probably not going to sway your opinion either way, but the voice acting is insanely good. The cocky protagonists in particular are amazing, but all the other characters sound great too; and it's possible to set the dialogues on autoplay, so you can just sit back and enjoy the spoken dialogue... if you can handle the suspense, that is. Not a lot of people who have this game seem to have launched it at all. Only 44% of players have the achievement for pretty much the first real scene. But those who do will usually stay till the end, as 26% of all players have the ending achievement. Try the chicken. There's a demo, if you'd prefer to try just the tip. A pretty fun detective game, I like how many characters there are, and that each character has depth to them, and it's fully voiced. The story was really good and engaging.(I accidentally left it open so it's closer to 7-8 hours playtime)

An incredible story with excellent writing, polished voice acting, and amazing characters. The world-building in this game is actually insane, and I loved diving into every detail. I think there’s enough content here for a solid 10 hours of noir crime-solving fun with Marty and Sonny. I can’t wait to play the sequel! I highly recommend this to fans of games like Ace Attorney, Kathy Rain, Tangle Tower, or Norco! A perfect narrative and a surprising twist to wrap up 2024

I don't usually play point & click games, but this one caught my eye. I loved the style of the game and story was very interesting....a noir type detective investigation with all types of beasties as characters of the story. If you liked the movie Sin city (2005) this is a game for you. Hopefully the developers will deliver some more games like this.
