This game truly surprised me as someone who is an avid fan of 3D platformers, and I can safely say that there's few games in the genre that control as smoothly and responsive as this one does. Not only that, but the visuals replicate the 64 era graphics and style almost perfectly, from the models to the textures, you can tell a lot of thought was put into the art direction. And to add to the visuals, the animations are SO eye catching and fun to look at, It's definitely one of the highlights of the game. I would also like to point out that I LOVE the designs of the main duo, Seve might have one of my favorite character designs to date. The game is also VERY funny. I find the idea of this game serving as a "pilot episode" of a cartoon to be such a neat concept, and it carries that feeling in the interactions, its dark humor and its simplistic story. It makes you miss some of that edge 2000's cartoons had. But by far one of my favorite things about this game is the large amount of secrets that it has. I won't go into details, just know that the more secrets you discover, the more you'll want to keep playing until you've found every single thing this game has to offer. Now here's the thing, this is a *really* short game, but what you're getting here is one of the best examples of quality over quantity. I really hope this serves as the base for an even larger experience, and even if this is all there is to Corn Kidz 64, I couldn't be more satisfied with what we got.

I have mixed feelings about this game but my experience was mostly a positive one despite the number of things that should be fixed. My biggest gripe with it was how there was a lack of direction in terms of what had to be done to proceed through the levels, which is especially crucial since it plays like a sandbox game and considering how the game introduces us to a bunch of game mechanics just as we start the game in the tutorial level along with the tutorial level not being possible to complete 100% unless you've gotten a skill from the next level made for a somewhat frustrating experience. Pacing was especially bad in terms of getting well acquainted to the controls and it made for a pretty overwhelming tutorial level where I was still struggling with the controls by the end of it. I would've preferred a shorter tutorial level which is more linear so that it would help familiarize us with the controls better without it being overwhelming. This led me to feeling unfulfilled by the end of the tutorial level since nothing special happened, where there wasn't much of a congratulations at reaching the end of the tutorial level or no boss to be beaten besides one from the 2nd level (note: they only had 1 boss throughout the entire game). For context, there are a total of 4 levels with 1 of them being optional, the first 2 levels are more sandbox-style while the other 2 are massive linear platforming levels and thus, I was very confused as to what sort of direction the game was going for. The lack of depth in terms of what importance the collectable items held also made them not very satisfying to collect. Narrative-wise, there isn't much to the story either, and I didn't feel a sense of achievement upon finishing any of the levels or even the game as a whole. Despite the lack of direction, the game shines best for its platforming gameplay which made for a fun platforming experience with interesting puzzles that made good use of the character's move-set. The character is a goat with a horn that he can shoot out in all directions which can be made to twist screws open or into walls, along with the ability to headbutt into enemies, floating objects and walls for a boost which made for a variety of possibilities in terms of the platforming. There was also a cool implementation of flipping the level to its mirror image which made for interesting changes in the level that lead to more explorable areas being made available which really reminded me of how the stone tower temple from the legend of zelda majora's mask had a similar implementation that made for such a cool level. However, the game sometimes suffered from some clunkiness in terms of the homing headbutt ability where it wouldn't hit the target despite it being pointed in the correct direction, along with a somewhat janky camera that made it difficult to control where we wanted to look. Thus, I think it has a really huge potential to be a great game since it has really fun platforming sections despite all the problems I mentioned before,I think the gameplay itself outweights all my complaints. However, if you're not very familiar with 3D platformers and aren't fond of challenge levels. I suggest that you pick this up after playing other more well-known platformers.

If I had a nickel for every time I got briefly obsessed on a 3d platformer starring a goat character exploring a dream, I'd have two nickels. That's not a lot but it's weird that it happened twice, right?

The controls and movement in this game are insanely polished and immensely satisfying, there was never a dull moment. The aesthetic and atmosphere is thick, especially with the CRT filters cranked all the way up. Almost a perfect game but is tragically short and the last level took years off of my life.
