This game captures the feeling of playing with crayons as a kid. In it you are presented a simple crayon picture where you can add shapes to the drawing. The shapes follow a very basic gravity physics. If you make an enclose shape then it has more weight than lines and if it's bigger it has more weight than smaller enclosed shapes, but lines can still counter-balance an object as a pole would if it were long enough. The objective is to move the ball to the star by building shapes which move the ball to the star while crossing any obstacles in the way. You can set up ramps ahead of time and then drop a rock to kick the ball, or you can "flick" the ball with a r-click to get it going. I like the difficulty design: You can complete a puzzle, and there are two extra objectives that limit how much you can draw, for example being limited to one shape. That's an interesting challenge because you have to think about how your shape is going to fall in the world to move your ball in the right direction while also fall into place to help the ball traverse the obstacles. It's hard, but immensely satisfying when you "design" the proper shape which elegantly does both. But that's optional. As long as you get the star you can progress to see more puzzles. (Though there are "bonus" puzzles which I presume are harder locked behind getting all the stars, there are already a lot of levels I have just from completing the first island) This all wrapped up in soothing music and an aesthetic that captures of the feeling of having been a child playing with crayons on a rainy day.

I loved this game when I was too young to understand what a PC was, probably 5 or 6, but I was so bad at it. Now I'm 23, on the same family steam account, and writing reviews for every game in what is now my collection thanks to the new-yet-old family features. I'm not going back to this one (on principle), but how could I ever rate it negatively? I imagine I shall still be adding to this library when I am on my deathbed. Perhaps the name of the last game I ever play will appear right next to this one. A life illustrated by snapshots of experiences, from beginning to end. Sounds sweet! (I still, like, get out the house and stuff. And have a career. And a family, sometimes. I just find it strangely charming that digital media has become so permanently centralised)

while I dont think it's worth its current price, this game makes me. really sad. The music is so soothing. that along with the visuals, the slow learning and yellowish crayon paper.. it really makes me miss my youth. i wish people now still made things with comfort in mind, real life is so mean. while I didn't grow up on this game, the nostalgia so many people have for this game is also crazy and just makes it even sadder to me. apparently a bunch of people randomly dream about this game, rediscover it and the nostalgia hits them like a truck. i miss being a kid so much. i miss when i didn't have to worry about responsibilities. this game doesn't really have that much on its own, it's super simple and it's not even TRYING to get me to cry but im genuinely tearing up playing this game.
