It's a really charming game that takes a lot of inspiration from Poppy Playtime (but not in a bad way) The characters are really well animated and the graphics look great! Also CoryxKenshin is in this game so points baby! All said and done the game is really short but i'm guessing it'll have episodic releases like Poppy Playtime. Try it out it's definitely something unique :) Oh and honorable mention to Omelette Man. that song has been a guilty pleasure of mine ever since I heard it.. 😅 👨🍳 🍇 🍌 🤍🍫
Dark Pals Well, I only started playing Dark Pals 2 days ago, and I’ve already replayed it 5 times. That honestly says a lot about how much I enjoy this game. It’s really fun to play, and I think the puzzles are some of the best I’ve seen in mascot horror. They honestly remind me of Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 level puzzles simple, fun, and not annoying. That’s what makes the game so replayable for me. The achievements help a lot too. Right now, I’m trying to 100% the game, and I already have every achievement except one: the super difficult beat the library in 2 minutes achievement. One tiny mistake that wastes even a second can ruin the entire run. Still, besides that one, the other achievements were pretty fair and enjoyable to get. I also really like the graphics. They’re surprisingly well made, and overall the game has a really polished look. But the real star of the game is Omelette Man. He absolutely carried the entire experience for me. I love his little song, and his puzzle section was easily the best part of the game. Blueberry banana white chocolate! that tune has genuinely been stuck in my head for days now, and honestly, I’m not even complaining. He’s hilarious, memorable, and easily the best character in the game. I do have to say though, I didn’t really like most of the actual monsters. Chompy was okay, I guess. He was fun when he acted friendly and cute, but when he was aggressive at the start, he just felt kind of weird to me. I also didn’t really understand the scene where you enter the code into his teeth and suddenly he becomes friendly and starts licking you. I was honestly confused about why pressing four keys on his teeth made him so happy. Maybe it’s some kind of code programmed into him? I honestly don’t even know the lore of this game that well yet. But there’s one thing I genuinely hated: Binky Drinky. Oh my god, I hate his design and voice. He looks disturbing, but not in a cool horror way I genuinely just don’t want to look at him. His weird oversized body, diaper, realistic feet and fingers… it all just creeped me out in the worst way possible. And his crying and voice lines were honestly painful to listen to. He might genuinely be one of my least favorite fictional characters ever. If Binky Drinky wasn’t in the game, this honestly could’ve been one of my top 5 favorite games. But he almost ruins parts of the experience for me. The scenes where he sucks on his head are genuinely disgusting, and the game forces you to watch it multiple times. The sound effects especially were just gross. That’s the best word I can use to describe him: gross. Sorry if this review sounded really negative at times I honestly hate being negative about games. Because outside of Binky Drinky, I actually had a really fun time with Dark Pals. Overall, I’d give it a 6.5/10.
Best mascot horror game since FNAF, Tattletail, and Bendy. Binky drinky is top 5 mascot horror characters of all time and hes not 5, 4, 3, or 2. This game (especially the moments with Chompy Chasey) made me feel emotions no horror game has made me feel. I dont have a dog but if I did he'd be like Chompy Chasey. I am emotionally invested in this game now and I will be buying Dark Pals: The 2nd Floor.
Just finished the game, and i have a few things to say. First, it was a lot better than i suspected it to be. Second, the animation was great. The music wasnt bad at all, and the chases were not mind numbing as Poppy Playtime's. Overall, this game was very surprising, and we (yes WE) need Chompy to return at some point.
I never really cared all that much for Mascot Horror games such as Poopy Playtime, but seeing this game, its $6.70 price tag (I am sure this was intentional), and its pretty unique and oddly adorable monster design was what drew me in. I will have to say it now, the game is not all that scary, at least for me, as said before, the monster designs are just oddly adorable, and the game itself is quite short. At times, it can be a bit tricky finding out where you need to go to progress, and finding out where you need to go to avoid the monsters, and progress to the next part. However, I am interested to see what future floors will bring! 7/10! Really, I think the only scary part about the whole game is the guy on the theater screen, and poor Binky Drinky being abused. STOP HURTING HIM!
