On it's own Demons Never Lie is a very solid point and click horror adventure which will stick with you for where it's willing to go, a very well written story, and even very streamlined and overall really good controls while you play it. It's not very long (I finished it in about 6 hours) but especially when you consider this is the work of a single developer it's exceptional for how well thought out it all is, and even more so as I am pretty sure it's their first release. I have nothing but the highest regards for Indiebug and their work here. And for the price of about $4 (not on sale) the short length is not in the way of recommending this one. If you have any taste for the macabre and point and click adventures you absolutely should take some time with it.
DNL isn't a perfect game. It lacks a lot of quality-of-life features and generally isn't very polished. There's no sound mixing, no chapter select, and no save history. There were times when animations cut off too early or looked out of place, and moving around can sometimes feel frustrating slow. When it comes to the game's story, DNL struggles to build suspense and drama during important moments. The story doesn't always properly explain certain decisions and events, and the ending didn't have the kind of emotional punch that I was hoping it would. But overall, I'd consider DNL a good, nearly great game. The animation itself is surprisingly fluid. The story is impressively well-written, and despite its flaws, it deserves all the praise it has received. It's the kind of high-quality story writing that I wish every game could pull off. Although the game is somewhat short, at 4-5 hours, it doesn't *feel* short. It never felt like I was doing some kind of filler, I was always progressing the story. If you aren't put off by the point & click gameplay, consider trying the game out. It's a visually-pleasing, well-written, and overall an enjoyable time.

Let me explain why. You play an attractive, healthy, 28 years old man(?). You have no woman, no job, no money, still study at the university but plan to quit, live at home with your (rich and dog-loving) mother, and she gives you house arrest after she wakes you up late on Saturday morning?? House arrest from your mum when you are 28 years old? And worst of all, there is a beautiful housemaiden living in the same house who obviously has a crush on you and you are too stupid to... well, you know what I mean. Finally stealing your mother's credit card and "borrowing" her car.... aaargh, and all this in the first half hour of my playtime. Most ppl are more mature in the age of 18. Come on, the main character is such an moronic wastebag that I feel embrassed to play him. You try to find you secret love in a park and your mother's poodle guards the entrance and doesn't let you in? Even the poodle is higher ranked than you in this family. At this time I simply wanted to kick that ugly pincher and show him how to treat family members (I do like dogs IRL, btw), but the game did not allow me to and I had to bribe him with a sandwich. It has an interesting graphical style and I encountered no bugs... try it at your own peril.
It's a nice game, feels very original and interesting. But I have to say that walking can be tedious at times, you will find yourself clicling the ground for every step. It's not often so clear where the path goes. So this could be frustrating, but the game is totally worth the time because of its pretty interesting and quite unpredictable story.
