Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜† (6/10) When I first dived into Don’t Knock Twice, my initial reaction was simply, β€œOh hell no.” The atmosphere immediately grabbed my attention, creating a well-crafted sense of dread that any horror fan would appreciate. Visually, the game has its highs and lows. Some areas exhibit impressive detail that truly draws you into the experience, while others felt lacking. For instance, the inclusion of a candle seemed unnecessary and detracted from the overall aesthetic. While the story itself was intriguing and showcased great potential, various aspects fell short, impacting the overall experience. The controls felt a bit clunky, and the movement was somewhat cumbersome. This jankiness was particularly apparent after the initial five minutes of play, which had a strong β€œwow” factor. However, as I progressed, animations and mechanics started to feel reminiscent of a quickly made indie horror game, lacking the polish you might expect from a title with this much potential.

Fun VR horror game to play during the Halloween season, but very short and definitely not worth the full price. With the 80% discount it has right now I say go for it

6.8 out of 10 (7.8 out of 10 in VR) Pros: Intense and immersive in VR, genuinely good jump scares and a fun Haunted House Simulator. Cons: Extremely short, ludicrously easy (very little challenge), bland graphics, and wonky physics/bugs. Verdict: Don't Knock Twice is a experience worth having - it is genuinely spooky in places, and keeps you on your toes as you explore it's haunted house. In the short 1hr 40 minutes or so it typically takes to beat - the game throws achievements at you and offers the ability to be played in either VR or traditionally with a controller or K&M. VR mode is the star of the show, and Don't Knock Twice is one of the better VR horror offerings on STEAM. In non-VR however, the game is a solid but mediocre experience with poor graphics, alot of odd environmental bugs, and not alot of replayability beyond a unimportant multiple-choice ending. Don't Knock Twice is still a fun but flawed little experience should you not play it with a headset... but VR and motion controls are where the game becomes a blast. I highly recommend that if you are NOT going to play Don't Knock Twice in VR, that you wait for a DEEP SALE (less than $7), because $20 is far too much for a game this short (and without VR the experience is nerfed). In non-VR the game is still really unsettling and enjoyable for what it is, but certainly not meaty enough to justify that full price.
