TLDR; Incredible Sandbox ARPG that respects your time As a POE veteran with over 10K collective hours (alot of POB, for those who know you know), this is perfect for hardcore ARPG players who really enjoy theorycrafting foremost and gameplay second. The gameplay ends up becoming fairly monotonous near the endgame once you get geared, but the journey in putting together a build from scratch, and figuring out how and what to craft for your build is immensely satisfying. The fact the build plays itself is almost like a reward, some sort of ideal to build towards (as are most games in the genre). The developer definitely doesn't handhold you in terms of slowly introducing you to new ideas, you pretty much have access to almost everything needed to make builds within the first few hours of gameplay. You can pretty much let your imagination guide you in making some pretty crazy builds, which don't normally exist in "balanced" seasonal ARPGs just because the numbers/scales blow up like crazy. (E.g. AOEs the size of the screen, thousands of live projectiles on your screen, autobombers, etc. All the good stuff that people who like "breaking" arpgs will really appreciate here.) Many different unique scaling and "stat stacking" vectors which makes it really fun pushing characters to their absolute limit. Item crafting is also extremely similar to POE, but with extremely precise item "editing" mechanics similar to legacy harvest, allowing you to make close to best in slot items in much less time than it would take in a POE league (if you have the mats, maybe 30 min-1hr after planning). They also have a reference guide to item modifier weights which makes it pretty easy to plan/execute crafting, and there is some "skill" involved in finding the shortest path to your ideal crafted item. Word of note: Item filtering is currently case-sensitive and a few words (including some charge types and Faith/Piety) have translation ambiguities where multiple words mean the same thing. All the hours I've put in have pretty much gone towards min-maxing 1-2 archetypes, so I've been able to dive in the deep end to optimize pretty much one of many tens of characters you can make. Looking forwards to playing more while waiting for the next POE league.
Fun top down action rougelite that gives a lot of different weapons and passive effects to use, you can even tilt the random element in your favor by setting up to 15 upgrades that will have a higher drop rate. That being said at the time of review there is no way to save in the middle of a run and higher difficulty dungeon take time, you also have to pay tickets to enter most dungeon that drop randomly. Each run also starts of very slow until you start getting upgrades . Good game but does need some quality of life changes.
The closest thing that we will ever get to a "Poe lite". The blend of path of exile buildmaking with Roguelike elements is a great idea and brought me many hours of enjoyment. If you played poe, expect to see the Iconic uniques, keystones and skills here, but reworked just enough to feel like something of its own while interacting with the game's own systems. Since its a new release a lot of things are much stronger than others (Archmage is craaazy) but experimenting is still very rewarding. I want to mention how enjoyable crafting is. Its fundamentally a lot of the orbs, poe2 omens and crafting systems you know very well, but made a lot more reasonable and functional. Harvest reforge? Pick affix tags for your desired item and base, pay some special currency to generate 5 outcomes. Or buy and brick all of them! Omens to remove prefix, suffix, lowest tier mod, fracturing orbs, its all here and you can use them without any worries at all. The result is transitioning to very powerful rares and ending at 4 mod crafted uniques to make really nice gear. My only gripe so far is the below average translation, the game will call certain things different names depending on where you are reading it. The most egregious example is with charges. Overall this is a great start to a very fun game and i want to see what else is in the works for the future :)
A must try rouge like with path of exile inspiration worth your money. This is a recommendation from me who is a die hard path of exile fan. A very easy learning curve. Spent 5 mins building a frost nova deck and had 0 issues completing early game felt like it was very balanced had challenge and reward to overcome any difficulties in early progression. Possibly the best build making looter, crafting indie poe like.
