Lovely game that I first played when I was a kid. Feels good to revisit this and finish all the extra content that the game has to offer. Achievement completionist isn't tedious as well. Music is awesome.

A seemingly simple game idea but fantastically rich in execution. The complexity builds at a good rate. The game also strikes a great balance between fun and cerebral puzzle solving. An excellent game.

Played the game on the 3DS a long time ago, looks great in high resolution but some UI elements like the minimap are too small. Soundtrack is 10/10 but the gameplay might be too simplistic for some.

A classic. A simple game at its core, but a showcase and testament to the raw beauty of the art of game design. EDGE demonstrates that you don't need many intricate and complex systems, nor breadth of mechanics, nor even a highly visually/aurally stimulating experience to make something great. It just takes a little ingenuity to craft variations on a theme to make a lot out of a little. It shows that the quality of a game is not so much tied to what or how many mechanics are in a game, but how intelligently and creatively they are applied and integrated through level design. EDGE's foundational approach to its design begins intelligently by combining a well balanced mixture of timing skill and puzzle solving...It isn't a pure puzzle platformer in that it also requires skill from the player. The skillset required is also elegantly simple and contextualized through a basic arcade rank system. Even though the scoring system only involves completion time, how many times you die, as well as how many optional "gems" scattered through a level that you pick up, that's all it needs to offer the potential for skill and puzzle solving mastery to those who prefer score/rank challenges. No element in EDGE feels superfluous, but it knows exactly what unique elements video games offer that no other medium can and how to effectively apply them.
