It's like Nausciaä and Vagrant Story had a love child and left it to be raised by FF7 while only being fed magic mushrooms. It's just great stuff. It's a JRPG through a depressed euro lense and that is meant as a compliment. The world is super intriguing. Alien and uncomfortable. The art direction and writing is strong, though a bit pretentious. But I like a bit of pretentiousness. Gameplay is tight and offers a lot of tactical depth on higher difficulties. 8 / 10 Can't wait for more content!

Lovely Hellplace will never get all the praise they truly deserve. I dont even like rpg games like this but I am now fully enraptured in this game. I would pay double what they are charging for this game even though its still EA. Ya da ya da praise praise praise you get it. Play the game and support their madness.

Finished act 1 in 2 sittings so the content is puddle sized but ocean deep. That should be the only thing causing you to pause before purchase. The game looks fantastic if you enjoy retro aesthetic with some fantastic art work to backup the characters. Lot's of lore to get lost into already and some interesting characters. My only serious complaint is that hard isn't all that hard, but I'll let you discover that on your own! Big recommend!

Game that has a lot of potential. Same writing and world building that I loved from Dread Delusion, but with a completely different turn based style of combat that feels much more engaging and rewarding than Dread Delusion. Only critique I have is that when traversing in map view, I feel like there could be a little bit more spots to interact with. Really enjoyed Act 1 and am looking forward to the finished game.

Absolutely recommended with important caveat: Only one act is out right now. About three hours of content if you poke around a bit. The atmosphere is great. The team put real elbow-grease into creating a distinct, mycopunk world full of lost tech, demons, fae, Shakespearean dialogue, and spooky snails. It comes together in a way that feels like the natural growth of the unnatural, not like a mess. The combat is great. Snappy stuff. The fact that your soldiers can die made me very wary of every battle on Hard mode. Enemies feel perfectly tuned to keep you watching out for the slip-up that's going to cost you a member of your team. Despite that (and the near certainty I had near the end of Act 1 that I was about to lose my whole party) I never lost anybody, so thoughtful play can get you through. The worldbuilding is exceptional. I expected more fantastical elements to be at the fore, but the tech is so vital to the story of the world (so far) that it feels like Kenshi if mushrooms grew all over it and demons were around, doing demon things. I lack the requisite substances to explain it in detail, and suggest you experience it instead. If hitting the end of the first act would jar you out of enjoying this game in perpetuity, don't buy it yet. Wait. If you're alright with getting chapters as they come, pick it up. I found it very satisfying and expect I'll be returning to it with each update.
