Bought this game awhile back and only recently started playing it. I regret not playing it much sooner. Most fun I've had playing an online game in long time. Highly recommend.

This game has continued to get significantly better and better since it released. Nearly everything has helped shape the game to become a true gem. It is fun playing survival mode with others, it is fun playing the singleplayer campaign if you get the supporter edition. The game at its core is a battle royale, but he has some very interesting sub systems that make it very enjoyable. I think probably the most unique is the chemicals you can place throughout the match. They can make a difference even if you just carry them for the passive benefits. Then you have npc quest givers that give you random objectives that grant buffs for the duration of the current match. They can be significant so it is definitely worth pursuing them as you play. Then you have the skill system, where every skill has a upside coupled with a downside. Want to have vampiric bullets, now you have overall lower max health. That said, you can really do some cool things with your build to compensate and have a unique character that is your own. There is an unlock system and it does give a satisfying overall feeling of progression. If you pay for the supporter edition you also get a short campaign and some other small benefits. In addition when you pick up skills and weapons in the main story, you unlock them in the item menu which can save you kill coins on the back end. Edit: The developer frequently is in multiplayer matches playing the game and you absolutely can tell he loves playing it as well as working on it. If you search the game on reddit or comments on the steam forums, you can see he also is very active with addressing issues. Edit edit: The skills no longer have downsides but they work a little bit different. The main campaign isn't the focus anymore for the co op aspect but now a survival mode that kinda feeds into it. IMO its actually really fun, especially the zombie rush that happens at the end where you can just mow down npcs.

Do you remember being a teen about ten years ago? Remember Soldat? Remember how.. Your choice of weapons were the really "popular" stuff like an M16, AK47, minigun and the Barrett? The bots used to talk smack at you and had punny names? The maps were simple, you were there to just kill or be killed? Geneshift is an effort to bring that experience to the modern era. I don't honestly have anything else to say, I'm happy that this game exists.

This is an amazing game made by an amazing developer. A friendly guy with a good heart and a real passion for making quality games. He genuinely cares about the community that formed around this game since it's initial release in 2009, and has never stopped engaging positively with everyone involved. His passion has really shone through in how he interacts with his dedicated players and in the artistry of his game. Please give this breakout work of art a chance and please support this awesome developer! -Avid player since 2009

This is the best top-down shooter I have ever played. I have been playing this game since 2009 in the beta and have over 100 hours logged, and am so glad the dev finally released it on Steam. Ignore the Early Access warning, this game has been polished for years. I personally have suggested many of the features in the game right now, and have been very heavily involved in the balancing discussions as well. If you kill someone with Plasma Ball you can thank ME for asking the dev to buff it! Anyway go get this game. Perfect 5/7 with rice.
