Another great platform series from my childhood. While I am glad to see it on Steam, it's a shame that it didn't get the remaster/remake treatment. They did at least add support for modern resolutions, so that helps a little bit. Hopefully this release might lead to something like that down the road but until then I'd still recommend checking these classic gems out.

This is basically a PS1 emulator for the OG trilogy. I'm only recommending this because I want an ACTUAL HD remaster of the game instead of an LRG no-bake attempt. This game deserved an HD remake so bad and it got completely screwed over.

Goofy, Dated, and Still Fun Jumping into GEX Trilogy took me straight back to the era of big hair, cheesy one-liners, and goofy 3D platformers. If you grew up with the original games, there is a real joy in seeing them together with updated visuals and quality-of-life improvements. The trilogy bundles the first three classic GEX titles, and even today the core idea is simple and charming: play as a wisecracking gecko blasting through TV-themed levels, collecting gems, zapping enemies and soaking up cheesy humor at every turn. The remaster does polish things compared to the original releases. The textures feel cleaner, the environments look sharper and the control is more responsive than many expected from these old classics. There is something undeniably fun about hearing GEX’s catchphrases while launching off spring pads, climbing through themed worlds, and discovering hidden areas. I found myself smiling more than once at a line that hit exactly the right nostalgic note. That said, the trilogy still carries some of the rough edges that defined the originals. Camera movement can feel awkward at times and certain jumps require pixel-perfect timing that feels unfair by today’s standards. A few levels feel more repetitive than exciting, and the overall pace can be a bit slow if you are used to modern platformers with tighter design. Some of those older quirks have been smoothed out, but not all of them, and that means players new to GEX might find parts of the experience dated or clunky. Despite these flaws, there is a lot here to enjoy if you go in with the right mindset. This is not trying to be a modern Mario Killer, it is a celebration of a specific time in gaming when platformers were quirky and loud and not always polished to perfection. If you grew up loving GEX, the trilogy captures that spirit and gives you a clean way to relive it. And if you enjoy retro platformers with character and humor, there is enough here to keep you entertained. Final Thoughts GEX Trilogy is exactly what it promises: a throwback collection of goofy, fun platformers that feel like a slice of gaming history. It has rough spots and old school quirks, but it also has personality in spades. Nostalgia runs deep here, and if that is what you are after, this trilogy delivers. While I enjoyed the trilogy, this is honestly just emulation not a PC port, and I understand why. CrystalDynamics does not have the source code for the Gex Trilogy and the save states make sense, no access to PlayStation BIOS. It is a shame but its not much of a problem if you are aware of the cheat codes. I agree with everyone wondering where the Nintendo 64 and Gameboy Color versions are, but the Nintendo 64 version would also have save states. I imagine the game was priced so high because they were going to add in the Nintendo 64 and GBC versions but their developer studio is very small and doesn't have the resources. For the people complaining about graphics, these games aren't for you. These are PS1 games, so of course there will be texture wobbling and other PS1 flaws. One thing that the emulation on the Gex Trilogy does better than Duckstation is the wide-screen hack. Very impressive. If you're a Gex fan, I would wait for this game to go on sale.

After you beat the game in the second game you get the credits and then you basically restart the game. There is no safe data for beating the game unless i miss something. that means you cant beat the last secret level because you can never get the last Boss remote, becuase the game just throws you back into newgame. Very Sad. maybe in a patch it will be doable
