As I approach 24 hours in the game, I thought I would give a few thoughts. It's awesome. At the game's core, you guys have hit the nail on the head. It feels amazing to play, coop has been a blast, progression is pretty straight forward, weapons feel unique. There is a ton going right in this game. From mechanics (dodge cancels everything, weapon combos feel smooth), to how visually stunning the game is. Good Job! This is what it feels like to have devs with a vision for what they want. As a long time gamer, thank you for this absolute masterpiece of a game. Really. I cannot wait to see what else is coming. The bad - Invisible wave attacks. It seems to be the only visual bug I have found. It has ONLY happened when playing coop, but Sabboath and Astaphane fights have invisible wave attacks on occasion. Makes the fight dang near impossible. Runs are... super short. By the time a build starts to feel good, half the time the run is over. Endless mode, the ability to run every planet in a run, or even the ability to select a run length (3,5,7 planets etc) would make the game feel... less like a constant 'I have to start over again.' Maybe it's just me, but games with longer runs (Gunfire, Ember Knights, etc.) just feel a little better. It feels nice to feel strong every once and a while, or have a few more rooms to find that one thing that makes your build really 'happen.' The maybe - More weapons would be nice. A short range bow with a spread shot maybe. A greatsword. Shield and spear (or any one handed weapon, or just a big shield). There are a lot of possibilities. Matchmaking of some kind would go hard. or even the ability to set your lobby to open/public with a simple lobby browser. Overall, I think this game is one of the best to release in the genre. I look forward to whatever else is coming!

Yes but not right now. It's a good game - I'd even call it a great game, but it feels like an Early Access release in terms of how little content there appears to be judging form my brief time with it. After a couple of runs this unfortunately felt like a worthy refund because despite the fun ideas on display the game is rather shallow and there isn't as much variety as audiences expect from the price point and genre. I also hate this idea that 'if the game sells well we will make more content' that i saw one of the developers voice in reply to someone. That doesn't seem like a fair deal to the customer. You should provide the correct amount of content in line with other games that cost the same amount. Definitely try the demo. There is much fun to be had here and while i really do love the idea there are too many other games out there in the same genre that have way more content for the same price or less to say this is something you absolutely have to play right now. If they get around to adding more content and fleshing this out then its's absolutely worth it. If not then do youself a favor and wishlist and wait for a sale.

It's a bit early to write a review, but I feel the need to help out the devs, since the game is flying under the radar of many people ATM. The combat in this game is excellently done and a majority of times when I take damage it feels like it's my fault. The bosses are really fun so far and the loot seems interesting enough. The game runs well and I like the graphics, which are quite basic, but I can see clearly what's going on. These are pros that many other AAA action games in recent years have not put an emphasis on, which is why I'm giving an early thumbs up. Hopefully the game will receive the recognition and support that it deserves in the future. One con: I feel like there should be more hitstun in the game, from heavy attacks especially. Too often the goto strat is to go in for 1-2 light attacks and then dash out, over and over. Hitstun from heavy attacking and from later stages of combos for example would make the combat more varied and interesting IMO. This would indirectly make enemies feel more varied, too, because you can have big armored enemies stagger less easily and small enemies with really dangerous attacks that stagger instantly, for example.

Edit: I changed my review from negative to positive as the devs have reached out and pointed out that they do have an active roadmap for the game with improvements and content updates planned. The gameplay is pretty fluid and pretty enjoyable. However, just to be clear, I do not actually recommend buying it right now as there are a few things that I must point out for people that are thinking of buying it, especially day one. This feels like an early access game, but isn't an early access game. It has just about enough to do a full run, the weapons are diverse enough, but there aren't enough biomes, enemy variety, etc that is expected out of a 28 dollar game. The stuff that *is* there is pretty good, but this feels like half a game right now if you ask me. Although I do think the final boss could use some work. Doesn't feel "final bossy" enough if you ask me. More phases, more chaos, more "I'm a fkin problem" from the final boss would go a long way, if you ask me. At the time of writing this review, controller support doesn't fully work. I can do combat mostly fine, but there's no way to get Playstation button icons from what I can tell, and I have to navigate any menus with my mouse since for some reason controller buttons don't work in menus. The game doesn't feel especially balanced at the moment. Some weapons outshine others to a pretty substantial degree, some enemies are just wild compared to others... A lot of things need number tweaking atm. It's not enough to ruin the game, but with the other things I've mentioned I think it's enough to matter. The main gripe I have with the game right now definitely is the enemy variety atm. For a game who's whole thing is absorbing enemies and using their powers, there really should be more powers and more exciting abilities to use. The buff abilities that just kinda do an AoE buff or debuff are honestly just not fun enough if you ask me, and the fact that there's like 4 or 5 Godbreak abilities like that just kinda sucks considering there's only like 20 abilities or less total, and a good 4 or 5 of those are just generic buffs/debuffs. They don't really add anything to your gameplay. They just buff you or debuff enemies. Would you rather have a badass punch that slams into the ground and deals massive damage in an AoE to enemies and stuns them, or a slight speed increase that makes you go through an animation to use? All in all, not a bad game by any means. I was excited to see that this wasn't Early Access slop, but this is a game that I really feel could have benefited from an Early Access release because it feels incomplete. If the devs continue updating it with content then I think this will be a worthwhile purchase in the end, but if this is the full game and all they do is bug fixes, it's definitely not worth 28 freaking dollars when games in this genre are generally 20-25. This game released on sale and still more expensive than a lot of full priced, higher quality roguelites. As of right now, this game is worth 20 dollars at most if it gets promised more content updates or a roadmap. Without a good sale and promised future updates, I would not recommend buying this game. I highly recommend if you're reading this to just wait and see where it goes.
