Heavy Bullets is a very simple, but surprisingly fun and addictive roguelike. The art style is beautiful and charming, and the soundtrack is decent enough to keep you engaged. I started playing it yesterday, and I got all achievements today with 12 hours of playtime. My first win, however, took me around 6.5 hours, but once I got the momentum going, I kept winning and pursuing the achievements. They were a bit annoying due to the RNG-oriented nature of the game, but they’re alright. There is only one weapon, and the main gimmick is to collect your bullets once they’re shot. You’ll be constantly collecting bullets and reloading your gun unless you get the corresponding items that do them for you. The goal is to reach the generator and shut it down. There are only 2 bosses, and they’re fairly simple to deal with. However, they both require different approaches. The main thing you need to keep in mind in Heavy Bullets is to take your sweet time, especially if it’s your first time playing, because rushing won’t do you any good unless you’re confident with your aim and can make them count. Another thing is grabbing the Last Will as soon as possible for the first few runs, because trust me, you’ll die a lot, and that item transfers half of your money to your bank account for you to use later. It also transfers keycards, bullets, and bombs to the next run. Keep that in mind, and you’ll eventually succeed if you ever decide to play it. TL;DR A fairly simple roguelike, but surprisingly fun and addictive. The art style and the soundtrack are decent, too. The main gimmick is to collect the bullets after they’re shot, and unless you’re confident in your aim, take your time if you want to succeed.

This game has its charm, with the low poly arcade appearance and bright colors, but my God if you don't have professional CSGO level reaction times, Heavy Bullets is just gonna piss you off.

Quick fun game if you want an aim trainer, this definitely will do that for you. The gimmick of the game doesn't match the premise of the game at all though, and while its not detrimental it does hold the game back. The premise is that when you shoot a bullet, it lands on the ground and can be picked up again. Since there is absolutely no incentive to go fast, and are actively punished by the snakes hiding in the foliage and turrets (which fire way too quickly once they see you), you are better off slow clearing each room, methodically peeking and clearing every corner of a room, taking as minimal agro as you can. Like I said this isn't necessarily a bad thing, if you play "valorant" or "CS:GO" this kind of methodical, peek-and-clear gameplay is very helpful as practice for those games. However, it makes the idea of picking up your own bullets, completely obsolete. Since you can take as much time as you want picking every bullet up. While I think the heavy bullets mechanic does is incentivize a slow playstyle, since if you try to go too fast, you'll probably miss your bullets, its hard to believe this was the intention of the developers. Since even boss fights are clearly designed to be move-based. I will say that the rogue-like aspect is clearly just an after thought, and breaks the game a ton, where you can just save money in the bank and then buy everything you see once you have enough. Regardless, it was a fun game. buy it on sale I guess. Definitely a challenging 5 hour experience.

Heavy Bullets is an absolute blast! This roguelike shooter combines fast-paced action with a unique twist that keeps you on your toes. The gameplay is both challenging and addictive, requiring quick reflexes and strategic thinking as you navigate the procedurally generated levels. The retro-inspired graphics and catchy soundtrack create an engaging atmosphere that draws you in right from the start. I love the mechanic of reloading bullets after firing—it's a clever touch that adds an extra layer of tension and strategy to every encounter. You really have to think about your shots and plan your moves carefully. Each run feels fresh, with a variety of enemies and power-ups that keep things interesting. The thrill of trying to beat your high score while dodging and shooting is incredibly satisfying. Plus, the simple yet effective design makes it easy to pick up and play for both short sessions and longer gaming marathons. Overall, Heavy Bullets is a fantastic experience for anyone looking for a challenging and fun shooter. It's a gem that keeps you coming back for more. Highly recommend giving it a try!
