A really fun game, a kill-cam would be handy to see what you did wrong and how to improve at the game.

Rarely do we see something about sword fights, as close to reality, as this game. In the world of 3D, or at least 2.5D games - even less. Frankly, the only other title I can compare Hellish Quart with, is... Bushido Blade, the game from PlayStation One era. These games are different, and not only in setting and therefore weaponry set. But, their major rules are mainly common, starting from the very basic one: blades are extremely dangerous, and you can win or die in one hit. This principle ties some very specific mechanic of collision calculations, since sometimes, some cuts and even thrusts aren't enough to close the dispute. This also means, that game outcomes quite often look quite dramatic, and foremost, bloody. Thus, if you're a kid of early age, or a parent who cares about kids psycho profile, I'd suggest to leave that game away, for some time. Continuing the delineation of Hellish Quart, well, I have to point out, the game is a long Early Access runner. The story campaign is all too short, and the roster of characters to choose from, while looking decent at first, rather limited by the fact most of them wield almost similar blades, namely, polish/hungarian sabres. And... yeah, I know, I know, there ARE differences, both in the game and in the real life. Being a sword practitioner myself, I can talk quite a lot about it, and I know the true masters who can add even more about fencing practices in general, and this Hellish Quart game in particular. But, solely from the gaming perspective, where the most interesting sword fighting, widely known, be Soul Calibur, with its bizarre characters and fighting styles... Regular Player One can hardly notice the difference between light and heavy sabres, kılıç or shashka... And yeah, there are several different weapons, like the broadsword or rapiers, and in some battles in the story mode, characters change their main weapons. Each character also shows different stamina and movement efficiency patterns, there are real depths of proper Fechtbücher (fencing books, one of the major sources of actual moves) and beyond provided... But it's still a less diverse and more clunky overall gaming experience than we had in Bushido Blade. There are still a plenty of things I'd wish to see added in Hellish Quart: better UI, both in action and menus, a bigger story mode, more distinguished variations in movement sets for different characters, more different backgrounds, better netcode and servers for online PvP matches... This game is far from perfect! But what is certain, for a sword fight adorer, Hellish Quart already provides a solid experience, and it is already worth its full price. The developers are really trying to provide historically and physically correct sword fight experience, with some quite understandable and acceptable game assumptions. Thus, here we are, eagerly waiting for the further updates!

It’s ok but the scope creep is not good. Great sword play action, but the devs are adding horse riding and little open areas and just focusing on all the wrong things. Their focus should be making the flow of battle from kill to kill, more continuous, more characters and styles. Not exploring courtyards for sacs of gold and riding horses.
