I really like the art style and animations in the game for one, I love how there are so many ways to die and animations for so many little things. However, this personally, does not make up for the tedious and mind numbing gameplay loop HOUSE offers. I felt like i was going crazy grabbing the axe over and over and over again. I would recommend this game only on sale as most of your playtime is going to be dedicated to trial and error.
What can I say honestly? House has such a special place in my heart, I discovered the game back when it came out in October of 2020, it was the roughest year of my life, much of it having to do with family issues. I wasn't able to play the game back then, I didn't have the money to purchase it, but I was happy with watching people play it, I was instantly hooked into the game because of his charming style, the melancholic and very unsettling but beautiful OST (Which I also bought), the horror (Which I'm all for), and just, how charming this little game is as a whole. A few days ago, I purchased it, to show my appreciation for the devs and to play the game, and to my surprise, when I finish the main story which I had still memorized all the steps for despite being almost 6 years since the last time I saw a playthrough, I found myself playing a second chapter that I had no idea of, which I played without a guide and it felt so rewarding to piece things together on my own. It was difficult, it was tense, it was tedious at times due to the unfortunate crashes that happened from time to time (Which I fixed by not activating fullscreen and lowering game quality to low), but it was beautifully haunting all the way through. And by the end, after I had done everything I needed to do, listening to the amazing ost play in the background and I slowly walked through the decrepit remains of the house, and talked to the spirits, one after the other, I acatually ended up shedding a few tears, this game means a lot to me, and the family aspect this game shows hit close to home... What can I say, an amazing masterpiece that I have no regrets buying or getting all the achievements for, it was worth every cent and second I spent playing it. Thank you for making such an amazing game and such a meaningful piece of art for me Bark Bark games <3. Would recommend 100%.
It's a fun game but it's so buggy. Kind of unacceptably so. Multiple softlocks and black screens over endings occurred during my 6 hour playthrough, including one during the last ending I got in Chapter 2 when I saved the cat which robbed me of the achievement for it; I'm not going back to do it again. I also wasn't that impressed with Chapter 2, the solutions felt very obtuse and frustrating. I'd recommend this because it's a very novel idea and the presentation is a unique kind of scary (at least during the first 100 deaths) but I can only recommend it on sale because of all the bugs.
