First of all, "How to Build a Magnificent Kingdom" is a 95% visual novel and 5% game-play (subjective estimation). If you don't like games that have large amounts of text, maybe this game is not for you. While the game-play is shorter in comparison to storytelling, it's original and refreshing. Instead of classic turn-based RPGMaker mechanic, you will deal with hordes of enemies in real-time, controlling one of your characters in the hack-and-slash style or just use skills and commands in automatic mode. The story is split into events which are separate from battles, so you aren't forced to read everything if you don't want. But, if you want to figure out what is going on before the game will give you answers, I recommend you to prepare pen and paper. Because there will be many pieces of the puzzle. In the majority of RPG games, the interaction of characters is limited to MC and a few "buddies", but in this game, every character has a side story with every other character. Many of them! Sometimes they are gags, sometimes important clues. Each of them has a deep background and motivations based on it. You can become lovers and marry girls you like. The game gives you plenty of time to enjoy your harem HRPG adventure... Then you hear the boss music. Happy harem fantasy falls apart. Corruption spreads and anxiety grows. The suspense is absolutely satisfying!
