The games chill tbh, switch brain off kinda thing. The annoying parts is the camera going everywhere, it should just stay on your character or just move a little. other then that itsd cruisy

Hyper Knights by Endless Loop Studios takes a familiar foundation—top-down hack-and-slash combat—and injects it with just enough strategic flavor to give it a distinct rhythm. At first glance, it presents itself as a straightforward action title, but once you settle into its loop, it becomes clear that it’s aiming for something slightly more layered. You’re not just a lone warrior carving through waves of enemies; you’re also a commander, gradually building a force and pushing back against opposition across a fragmented medieval landscape. That dual identity is where the game finds most of its appeal. The combat is immediate and kinetic, built around quick movement, responsive controls, and satisfying crowd-clearing attacks. There’s an arcade sensibility to how everything flows—enemies swarm, you dash in, unleash combos, and reposition before getting overwhelmed. It’s easy to grasp within minutes, which makes the game highly accessible, but there’s still a subtle skill ceiling tied to timing, spacing, and efficient use of abilities. As you unlock upgrades, your character becomes more capable, and the pace of combat ramps up in a way that feels rewarding rather than overwhelming. The game doesn’t overcomplicate things, and that simplicity works in its favor, especially for players looking for a more relaxed but still engaging action experience. What sets Hyper Knights apart is the way it incorporates army management into that action loop. Over time, you recruit additional units who follow you into battle, effectively turning skirmishes into larger-scale clashes. These allies don’t require complex micromanagement, but their presence changes how encounters play out. Instead of relying solely on your own attacks, you begin to think about positioning, momentum, and how to keep your forces intact while pushing forward. It’s not a deep strategy system by any means, but it adds a sense of progression and scale that elevates the experience beyond a typical hack-and-slash formula. The campaign structure revolves around reclaiming territory through a sequence of missions, including assaults, defenses, and control-based objectives. This gives the game a sense of direction, as each victory contributes to a larger effort rather than existing in isolation. There’s a satisfying feedback loop in watching your influence expand and your capabilities grow alongside it. However, the variety of missions doesn’t always keep pace with the core mechanics. Over time, objectives begin to repeat, and the lack of more dynamic scenarios can make the experience feel somewhat predictable during longer sessions. Visually, the game leans into a clean and colorful style that prioritizes readability over detail. This works well given the number of units often present on screen, ensuring that the action remains clear even in chaotic moments. Character designs are simple but distinct enough to differentiate units at a glance, and the overall presentation supports the fast-paced gameplay without unnecessary distractions. The audio design, while functional, doesn’t leave a particularly strong impression, serving its purpose without adding much depth to the atmosphere. One of the more compelling aspects of Hyper Knights is its support for multiplayer, which adds a layer of replayability that the campaign alone might struggle to sustain. Playing cooperatively or competitively introduces a new dynamic, where coordination and adaptability become more important than simply mastering the mechanics. It’s in these modes that the game often feels the most alive, as the unpredictability of human players helps offset some of the repetition found in solo play. That said, the game’s limitations are hard to ignore. The strategic elements never fully evolve into something deeply engaging, and players hoping for complex decision-making may find the systems too light. Similarly, while the progression system is satisfying at first, it doesn’t offer enough variety to keep every player invested in the long term. There’s a sense that the game has a strong foundation but stops short of fully expanding on its most interesting ideas. Even with those shortcomings, Hyper Knights succeeds in delivering a consistently enjoyable experience. Its blend of fast-paced combat and light strategic elements creates a gameplay loop that is easy to pick up and hard to put down in short bursts. It may not be the most ambitious or polished title in its genre, but it knows exactly what it wants to be and executes that vision with confidence. For players looking for a straightforward action game with a bit of tactical flavor, it offers a satisfying and accessible ride that’s best enjoyed in quick sessions or with friends. Rating: 8/10

Purchase Date: 15th of February 2018 - 15/02/2018 Purchase Value: 2.79€ (Bundle of 2 Games worth 5.98€) PROS & CONS Review: PROS: + Fun. + Easy to learn. + Easy to 100% Steam achievements. CONS: - It lags in the end of big battles. Text Review: Hyper Knights is basically a very simple 2D Mount & Blade. It's addictively fun to play as it's easy to learn and simple to finish. The gameplay overall is smooth, although it starts to lag in the end of big battles, it's the only negative aspect I noticed. This line is for the achievement hunters. It's easy but it requires just a little bit of grinding to 100% Steam achievements. Recommendation: It was a good time waster, I recommend it. Buy it with a discount though. in bigger battles, some of the scaling gets worse and worse, and too little time between attacks. - recommend using a controller. I might have not reached to the point of how it scales yet as there was not a deep tutorial, and its the most game like games from this developer but similar flaws like his other titles can have. with a more messy version of the bannerlord game mechanics around realtime and world map movement. - can get too grindy - enemies spawn too fast and so much can start to happen at once, and enemies can send 2x endless hordes if you pick the wrong fight, easier to just loose the battle? - lack of more tactical options than to just outnumber the enemy. - various stuff can be lacking for the player be it UI + gameplay handling, and other stuff. - horde of enemies can stack on you, and the game is mostly 1vs1 unit fighting unless you use abilities, so can get ability heavy and crashing some of the flow. the other DLC might work for some players and their style of playing.

This game is the best, it is mount and blade, but you are an overpowered steroid abusing knight. I wish it had more unit types like Cavalry/Cavalry archers. I love the fact that you get to disperse your minions to take villages and its even better when you have a knight by your side it's just dopamine heaven.
