If you love Tycoon games, and you've never tried IG2, then get it, its one of the hallmarks games that really was polished and balanced back when games were released finished without years of early release nonsense. Factorio was born from the concept of this game, supply chains, with individual items being transferred between stages of production, except this is supply chain to eventually return a profit to keep growing and optimizing. The game has different categories of scenarios, easy, medium and hard that are progressively unlocked by completing them . The hard scenarios are really challenging, and Ive come back to IG2 20 years on and it feels like a fresh challenge even with all my years of play under my belt. Don't let the age of the game put you off, some of the best games (and movies imo) came from decades ago. The games graphics are 2D isometric, look good and the game world is alive. The game world feels alive and its not any lesser of complexity due to its age. Some of the tips and tricks are probably lost forever, here's one I remember that many newbies will probably never know. If you build factories that are adjacent to each other, they both get a speed bonus in production. I believe that multiplier increases each step up to a max of 4 adjacent factories.

This is my favorite tycoon game of all-time. Don't let the age scare you. This game is tremendous. Shame of the folks that brought out Industry Giant 4, hot garbage compared to the predecessor.

Industry Giant 2 is an economic manufacturing / transport simulation. You basically need to make a certain amount of money in a certain amount of time or similar map goals. Supply and Demand are seasonal and each city has an independently growing population. Larger cities have larger populations / demand and grow faster. Placement of your shops and what wares you choose to sell are make or break it decisions over the course of each map. Failing at the end of the allotted time allows you to restart and try new or more optimal strategies. This is really a math optimization game. Trying to optimize your production chains in order to make the most money. The experience is quite fun. As you progress each map expands in complexity and difficulty. You can tell the developers put a lot of effort into making the game progressively challenging. If you like the 'railroad tycoon' or 'transport tycoon' type games then you'll love Industry Giant 2. Its a great game.

Industry Giant 2 isn’t exactly brand-new anymore, but it’s still an entertaining and engaging economic simulation. You can definitely feel its age, since the gameplay and quality-of-life features aren’t really state of the art, but it’s still fun to play through the campaigns. Achievements Required time: 20-30 Hours (for the campaigns) Difficulty (in my opinion): 5/10 DLCs required for 100%?: No As for the achievements, the game is actually pretty straightforward: you just need to complete the tutorials and the three DLC campaigns. The original campaign missions don’t have any achievements at all. Other than that, there are only playtime-based achievements, with the highest one requiring 100 hours. However, it seems that paused time doesn’t count toward this, as my achievement only unlocked well beyond 100 hours.

Old time fan of this game, played on CRT monitors. Essentially supply/ demand and supply chain game with lots of twists. There are various targeted campaigns and free form games.
