Inunaki Tunnel is pretty interesting, but also obviously one of the earlier Chilla games. The premise is simple: you are a social media personality looking for fame by exploring a soon to be blocked off tunnel rumored to be haunted. As you go deeper in, you encounter more and more strange things. My biggest criticism of Inunaki is the disjointed plot thread. I read every single letter and it still felt like I was missing one to figure out the connection between the woman and the dog. I have some guesses, but if they are true there could have been much more pay off for it. Anyway, not a bad hour or two.

I've been kind of obsessed with the irl inunaki tunnel lately. this game is really satisfying for someone who really wants to see what's inside. obviously what's actually inside is completely different from what's in the game, but it's a nice fantasy. I got the bad ending, and I'm excited to see what the good ending looks like. this game has amazing atmosphere and has that japanese style horror that relies on atmosphere more than jump scares, like you see in things like silent hill or ju-on. overall if you're into paranormal spots or classic japanese style horror I highly recommend this game.

** If you’re here for a horror game with jumpscares and chase scenes, this game is not it. I love this game, but it’s definitely more of an exploration and puzzle game than anything, and it goes by really quick. I got all 3 endings in under 2 hours, and only experienced about 3 jumpscares. In this game, you’re just exploring the tunnel, reading notes, and completing puzzles (for the good ending). If you dismiss all the puzzles and notes, you get the bad ending which has a tiny jumpscare. The secret ending technically does have a chase scene but the ghost, and you, are so slow it doesn’t really get your blood pumping. Also, it’s really hard to see (even with your brightness up) so beware of that lol. Either way, found the game enjoyable.

Inunaki Tunnel is an infamous real life location surrounded by urban legends. Walking around the tunnel in a dark forest is a nice change of pace after the urban environments of the previous games. Unfortunately, it's fairly uneventful. I'm not asking for jumpscare galore, but eerie and creepy atmosphere alone can only carry a game so far. The adventure horror formula is further improved. Now there's 3 endings, and 2 of those require more effort than previously. This increases the playtime slightly, but it's still below an hour. The VHS filter is even more intense, unfortunately to the point that some people might find it obnoxious, or dizzying. Thankfully, it can be disabled.
