Skippable!! Only reason i can recommend this game to someone is for Nostalgia or if you really want to try the early version of Just Cause. I don't mean it as a bad game. Its a "mid" game at best. Simple story, so don't expect much. Combat is reasonable for its time and game play is mostly same and repeatable. Interestingly, enemies will get stronger as you progress. You can counter them by levelling up your allies. There are some noticeable bugs in this game but none of them are game breaking. Don't forget to save the game between missions. I lost hours of progress after the game crash. If you think this game looks too old for you, then you can skip to Just Cause 2. You don't really miss anything. 3/5.

I expected this to be bad, but it's actually a pretty good time. There is a level of freedom to this chaos one can't help but adore. It's old yet still very playable, with a kind of unpolished brilliance that modern games rarely capture. The jank, rather than being a flaw, becomes part of the experience, making even failure entertaining. It’s the kind of game that doesn’t care about perfection; it just hands you a sandbox of insanity and says, go have fun. And somehow, against all odds, it works.

We can't judge a 2005 game with 2025 standards. Actually, it was pretty fun at that time.

Love all the just cause games. JC2 and 3 are probably the best in the franchise, but this one is still enjoyable and gets credit for starting the franchise. Definitely recommend for fans of open worlds and freedom in games.

paste this into launch parameters for just cause for the highest quality experience in my opinion /windowed /width=1280 /height=960 windowed because the game will be stretched and ugly if fullscreen the 1280 x 960 part is to correct the developers oversight. Old games are 4:3 which is why they only have 4:3 resolutions to choose from. However there is one 5:4 resolution listed inside this games options that is 1280x1024. this might be a mistake because 1280x1024 is a 5:4 aspect ratio and will slightly stretch your game (you can test it with screenshots, with any proper 4:3 resolution your minimap circles will be perfect circles, but if you choose 1280x1024 they become slightly oblate, because the game is being slightly warped to fit the abnormal 5:4 aspect ratio) i googled it, the only reason 1280x1024 exists is because they were common in tv's in the early 2000s look on the wikipedia of screen resolutions, 1280x1024 is listed ALONE in the 5:4 category with no other resolutions, interesting. 1280x960 is a correct 4:3 resolution and im shocked its not included in the options. oh and did you know "just cause" does not mean just because? "She stopped traffic to save four puppies, i would say that was a just cause"
