Don't trust the short-term players on this one. I admit, Kadomon is buggy. But the gameplay is not purely simplistic or random. There is depth if you care to look for it, secrets buried throughout the game, and rich synergies if you care to experiment with them - but the game does not explain how any of this works. And I'm honestly pretty cool with that. For me, discovering how the evolution system works (without a guide) and balancing the needs of a given run against the long-term goals of filling out my (kado)dex was uniquely rewarding. I think there's a ton of potential on display here, and I'd like to see this game reach the players who might appreciate it. So if you want a game that you have to explore to enjoy, that scratches the collection itch of Pokemon and the strategic itch of Slay the Spire, and you don't mind the unpolished interface, give it a try.

Lots of bugs but I like the game. Those bugs doesn't effect too much.

I've played the beta for a bit, unlocked most things and even got a few misprints (aka shinies). I will say however I did lose 1 of them, but I didn't care that much at the time, and still don't now. The problem I seem to see many people have with this game is the amount of bugs, which yeah there is a good few bugs with each update, but the devs are being REALLY communicative and fixing bugs in every update, which is a lot more than most dev teams do nowadays. Another issue I seem to notice is the lack of an engaging gameplay loop. You pick a trainer, pick a starter, go through 3 different regions on the map slay the spire style, defeat the bosses at the end of each and then that's it. Besides a "challenge modifier" you can pick on the trainer select screen, the gameplay loop doesn't change. There isn't another mode to play, a sandbox mode to try and discover things in, just the 1 mode with only 3 modifiers to choose from. Compared to the beta, the difficulty certainly was taken out there. Now why am I still recommending this game? So far this seems like a negative review. Despite what I've said, the gameplay loop is enough to not be the same each run, each run is different having different bosses to fight, different encounters with positive and negative outcomes, and different kados to encounter, and a possible misprint to encounter. I enjoy playing this game quite a bit, it's fun time killer, and fun to have running while I do other things like draw, or watch videos on youtube, I know it's not a good reason for some people who want a game that takes their focus, but at least for me it's nice. What would I suggest to help improve the game? More options for gameplay re-playbility, whether it's new modes, or freedom for further customization. More unique encounters and optional bosses, (there are 3 secret encounters that give you a really strong kadomon for your run if you manage to beat it in your current run). I find them to be really cool, and I'd like to think the addition of more special bosses and different unique encounters would be fun. This last one is a maybe, but an endless mode similar to Pokerouge's might be good for this game too. A mode that continues to scale with difficulty by adding additional modifiers after each milestone in your run, while also having better chances at getting a misprint, such as health buffs, damage buffs, starting party debuffs, enemy party buffs, etc. I love this game, and I believe it just needs time to become the game everyone wants it to be, it's just a process and by supporting it, and providing whatever feedback we can is pretty much the only way we can get the game this game deserves to be.

This game really naturally blends together the pros of Monster Collector games and Auto Battlers. There's tons of cool looking Kadomon to find, each synergizing in interesting ways. Kadomon that shelter others under their body until they're defeated. Kadomon who channel their magic to become stronger each time they ult (use their super). Legendaries the whole shebang. And recently as of the time of writing the devs have been on fire updating insanely quickly. I hope this game continues to flourish until it becomes an indie darling that can be called truly exceptional.

A lot of the reviews seem to stem from poor communication from the dev. Just like a lot of the other reviewers, I was kinda bummed about the rush to 1.0. The dev/publisher posted a statement about how the scope of the game was being cut waaay back, and would only get one more major update. It felt kinda outta nowhere after large periods of inactivity and didn't seem to do enough to justify a full release, to the point I almost left a negative review too. I thought they wanted to push the game out the door so they could just forget about it and move on. Since release the game's development has been more active than ever. There are definitely a good amount of bugs still, but they're being stomped out quick. Not to mention, for the first time in ages we're finally starting to get new content updates, including new Kadomon types, which was previously scrapped from the roadmap. All in all, it's still a bit of a buggy mess due to being one of the first projects from the developer, and never received a much needed rewrite. That being said, the creature collection side was enough to keep me hooked, and the dev is doing pretty good with the resources they got. If you're looking at this as a replacement for Super Auto Pets, I don't know if I'd recommend it. If you just want to fill out a "pokedex" with tons of cool designs and neat ideas you don't see in mainline creature collector games, than the gameplay is more than serviceable and you'll have a great time.
