LEGEND BOWL HAS DONE SOMETHING TO ME. I purchased what Steam described as a football game. That description is technically admissible in court. The first time I completed a pass, I felt a warmth I had not experienced since childhood. The second time, the defensive back intercepted it and returned it 74 yards while my offensive line wandered around like five divorced fathers searching for the correct airport terminal. That was when I realized Legend Bowl could see me. Every decision matters, particularly the decisions the game makes without consulting you. Call the perfect play? Fascinating. Read the defense correctly? Cute. Place the ball exactly where it needs to go? Legend Bowl has reviewed your little argument and will now be allowing a linebacker named Chuck Violence to teleport through your rib cage. And yet I keep returning. I have screamed at my quarterback. I have defended him publicly. I have privately circulated documents calling for his release. When he led a fourth-quarter comeback, I called him my son. When he threw an interception in overtime, I denied ever knowing him. The graphics look exactly like football did before the government added polygons. The soundtrack has been playing inside my walls for three days. I turned the game off yesterday and still heard the menu music coming from the kitchen sink. Is Legend Bowl fun? That is an offensively small question. Legend Bowl is a binding arbitration agreement between you and the concept of forward progress. It is four quarters of being shown incontrovertible evidence that you are both a tactical genius and the stupidest person ever permitted near a controller. After 52 hours, I still cannot decide whether this game deserves an award or whether everyone involved should be required to surrender their passports. I am giving Legend Bowl the only rating it will accept: The ball was spotted somewhere. There will be another game next Sunday. God help us all.
I'm old enough to have played Madden every year from about 1990 on, it peaked in 2012 and has been sliding downhill ever since. Quit giving EA your money, at this point they are just laughing at you. This is a MUCH better, deeper and harder game in my opinion. I thought it would maybe remind me of a late 90s Madden game, it's much more modern and it its own thing for sure, both in graphics and gameplay. that passing power meter is no joke and kicking is DIFFICULT. I play with an Xbox controller and Its plug and play, no issues there. Lastly, if your looking for Tecmo Bowl, this is not ANYTHING like that....
