I'm a sucker for games that are "Minesweeper, but more." That said, this game is fantastic. The music, art and animation are extremely satisfying, and on top of that, the gameplay mechanics are very satisfying once they click. I really enjoyed figuring out how the six character classes interact with the basic rules of the game.

Cool vibes all around! I love the artstyle for its vibrant colours and thin contours, the music for its chillness, and the gameplay for a unique take on minesweeper with paths and various ways to deal with enemies

Let’s! Revolution! is an inventive and stylish fusion of puzzle mechanics and roguelite structure developed by BUCK, with music and sound design by Antfood, and published in collaboration with Hawthorn Games. At its core, the game is a love letter to deduction-based gameplay, pulling heavy inspiration from classics like Minesweeper, but reimagined through the lens of a vibrant fantasy world, complete with unique characters, tactical combat elements, and a quirky narrative setup. Rather than simply flipping tiles and hoping for the best, you're asked to use logic, strategy, and class-based abilities to navigate procedurally generated boards that are both challenging and delightfully unpredictable. Set in the whimsical land of Beebom, the premise revolves around a tyrannical king whose reign has pushed the world into disarray. The player takes on the role of one of six playable heroes, each bringing their own mechanics and playstyle to the fight against oppression. This character variety is one of the game’s key strengths. For example, the Charger barrels through tiles and thrives on momentum, the Shadow leans into stealth and trap manipulation, and the Oracle emphasizes foresight and predictive movement. Each class fundamentally shifts how you approach the puzzle grid, turning what could have been a static core mechanic into something dynamic and strategic. Replaying the game with different characters feels genuinely fresh, as the optimal playstyle changes drastically depending on your toolkit. Gameplay unfolds across a series of maze-like maps that combine logic puzzles with turn-based action. Each board tasks you with uncovering tiles to hunt down the king’s minions, collect upgrades, and make your way toward the final confrontation. Unlike traditional roguelikes that rely heavily on combat, Let’s! Revolution! is built around calculated exploration. You’re constantly weighing the risks of revealing new tiles against the possibility of triggering enemies or hazards. The tension created by this risk-reward balance is where the game truly shines. Combat encounters, when they occur, are brief but meaningful, often requiring precise planning and clever use of abilities rather than brute force. Visually, the game is an absolute standout. The art direction is bright, playful, and meticulously animated, with each region of Beebom—such as the jungles, deserts, and cloud cities—offering its own distinct visual identity. The animations are fluid and expressive, enhancing the character of each hero and enemy, while giving the game a sense of life that many puzzle titles lack. Coupled with a dynamic and mood-fitting soundtrack from Antfood, the audiovisual presentation elevates the experience considerably. Sound cues are not only atmospheric but also functional, aiding in gameplay feedback and keeping players immersed in the moment-to-moment decisions. Despite its charm, the game isn't without its rough edges. While the core gameplay loop is rewarding, some classes have a steeper learning curve than others, and the game doesn't always do the best job of teaching their nuances. This can lead to early frustration for new players, particularly when trying out stealthier or more technical heroes. Similarly, while the procedural generation of maps adds to the replay value, it can occasionally result in unlucky layouts that feel more punishing than fair. A few poorly placed enemies or traps can turn an otherwise promising run into an abrupt end, though this is somewhat mitigated by the relatively short length of individual playthroughs. One of the more understated elements of Let’s! Revolution! is its approach to progression and difficulty scaling. With each completed run, you unlock modifiers and New Game+ variations that offer increasingly difficult challenges while introducing new items and tile types. These systems extend the life of the game significantly, especially for players who enjoy refining their strategies and testing themselves with different constraints. Still, the narrative and world-building, while visually captivating, remain fairly light in substance. There are hints of lore and personality in the world of Beebom, but players hoping for deep storytelling may find it more of a backdrop than a central focus. Where the game really succeeds is in its ability to keep players engaged through a loop of discovery, deduction, and decision-making. Every flip of a tile feels meaningful, and each cleared board brings with it a sense of accomplishment that few puzzle games manage to evoke. Let’s! Revolution! offers a satisfying blend of mental challenge and artistic flair, ideal for players who enjoy quick-thinking strategy with a healthy dose of charm. Whether you're drawn in by the art, the characters, or the clever twist on classic puzzle mechanics, it's a game that invites experimentation, rewards patience, and keeps you coming back for just one more run. Let's! Revolution! is an awesome roguelike with a Minesweeper-themed puzzle mechanic. I appreciated it for its short run lengths (usually 15-30 min for a full run), a cast of 6 characters/classes whose varied game mechanics make each one play quite differently, and a well-designed difficulty & "ascension" system (besides Easy and Normal difficulty, there are five NG+ levels of increasing difficulty). Art style and aesthetics are enjoyable and unique. Hooray for such an upbeat, rather than brooding, setting <3. The game is almost perfect; I only have two bits of criticism. Firstly, lack of keyboard shortcuts is just a really dumb omission. By the time I was used to all the game mechanics, I could've saved multiple minutes per run if there had been keyboard shortcuts, and experienced a more enjoyable game pace to boot. And secondly, as usual in indie roguelikes, at some point you wish there were more randomized elements (tiles, enemies, items) because you've seen them all and there's not quite enough variety. But I only found this a minor issue, and only when 100%ing the game. Ultimately, I liked the game enough to complete it 100%, winning on NG+5 on all six characters. Consider that my strongest praise.

While you could call it a "Minesweeper Variant", that just doesn't cut it. It's a well crafted rogue-like with a variety of playstyles, lots of different abilities and items, a great cast of characters, and outstanding music and sound design. The one thing I could complain about is that for some characters, it feels like there is a "winning" strategy, a state where if you can get to it you can just win. But, naturally, due to the nature of rogue-likes that isn't always guaranteed, so you definitely get variety in there. (Especially if you avoid those strategies once you find them.) Overall, great game!
