2D platformer hater here. This one is quite good. Nearly unlimited levels, so price should be no object. It made me smile. Solid controls.

It didn't take much time playing to see that this game has excellent gameplay as a framework for designing more levels, and that the levels that come pre-made are excellently designed. I wouldn't normally review a game this early, but I can already tell the quality, plus it's on sale right now. - There are powerups that change the gameplay. - There are hidden collectibles and reason to replay levels for all enemies, all collectibles, and speedrun time. - You can trigger level events from switches. - Level sharing is well thought out, improving upon Super Mario Maker. - You can cooperatively build. - You can grab "shells" from any direction and not have to hold the "hold" button to carry them. (In other words, the controls are better than the Super Mario Bros. series.) I got this on a $0.99 sale and that's a darn good deal.

Amazing game, but after about 10 hours into the campaign I reached a point of impasse. I guess it's just too hard for me, but I had great fun until then.

It is criminal how unknown this game is. This is probably one of the best platformers I've ever played, up there with Super Mario World and Super Meat Boy IMO. It just feels *really* good to play moment to moment. It gets difficult, but (so far) never tedious thanks to generous checkpoints. The included campaign is impressively varied and chock full of secrets to find. The level creating/sharing aspect clearly has a LOT of thought put into it, but you can never touch that and still have an absolute blast with the included levels.

Just buy it if you can't efford a nintendo switch and super mario maker 2, it is almost as good as the mario game.
