Fun little puzzler where we have to figure out different ways to guide a laser to a target using various mirrors and lenses. But there are actually more possible solutions than the count required to 100% the game. The puzzles aren’t particularly difficult, but they are fun to tinker with, though the difficulty is inconsistent between levels. The ones that required the most tinkering for me were those where we had to activate two targets with a single laser. All in all, I recommend the game if you enjoy casual, pure puzzle games.

LIT: Bend the Light, developed and published by Copperglass, is a physics-driven puzzle game that builds its entire identity around the manipulation of light. What initially appears to be a simple concept—directing a beam from one point to another—quickly unfolds into a thoughtful and increasingly intricate experience. Set within a softly stylized world inspired by early scientific discovery, the game frames each puzzle as a kind of experimental exercise, where mirrors, lenses, and other optical tools become instruments for problem-solving. It is a quiet, methodical experience that emphasizes understanding over speed and creativity over rigid solutions. The core mechanic is centered on how light behaves when it interacts with different objects. Players are given a source of light and must guide it toward a target using reflective and refractive tools placed within the environment. Mirrors bounce beams at precise angles, lenses bend and spread light, and other elements introduce variations that require careful observation. What makes this system compelling is its grounding in real-world physics. The behavior of light feels consistent and predictable once understood, allowing players to approach puzzles logically rather than through trial and error. This creates a satisfying learning curve, where each new concept builds naturally on the last. One of the game’s most notable strengths is its openness. Most puzzles can be solved in more than one way, giving players the freedom to experiment with different configurations rather than forcing a single correct answer. This flexibility encourages creativity, as players can refine their solutions or discover more efficient approaches after completing a level. It also adds a layer of replayability, as returning to earlier puzzles with a deeper understanding often reveals new possibilities. Instead of simply progressing from one challenge to the next, the game invites players to engage with its systems in a more exploratory way. As the game progresses, the puzzles become more demanding, both in concept and execution. Early stages introduce basic interactions, allowing players to become familiar with the tools and mechanics. Later levels combine multiple elements, requiring careful planning and precise placement to achieve the desired result. In many cases, understanding the solution is only part of the challenge—executing it with accuracy becomes equally important. This emphasis on precision can be rewarding when everything aligns, but it can also lead to moments of frustration when small adjustments make a significant difference. The presentation complements the gameplay well, adopting a clean and understated visual style that keeps the focus on the puzzles. The environments are softly detailed, with a subtle aesthetic that suggests a world shaped by invention and experimentation. Lighting plays a central role, not just as a mechanic but as a visual element, with beams of light cutting through space in ways that are both functional and visually appealing. The soundtrack is equally restrained, providing a calm backdrop that supports the game’s thoughtful pacing without drawing attention away from the task at hand. In terms of scope, LIT: Bend the Light is relatively concise. The number of levels is limited, and a full playthrough can be completed in a few hours. However, the open-ended nature of the puzzles and the inclusion of optional challenges—such as solving levels with fewer tools—help extend its longevity. Players who enjoy optimizing their solutions or experimenting with different approaches will find more depth than the initial playtime might suggest. Still, those looking for a longer or more expansive experience may find the content somewhat limited. There are also some minor issues that affect the overall experience. The reliance on precise placement can occasionally make the controls feel less responsive than ideal, particularly when fine adjustments are required. This can interrupt the flow of gameplay, especially in more complex puzzles where accuracy is critical. Additionally, while the core mechanic is well-developed, the game does not significantly expand beyond it, which may lead to a sense of repetition over time. Ultimately, LIT: Bend the Light is a carefully crafted puzzle game that succeeds by fully committing to its central idea. It offers a blend of logical reasoning and hands-on experimentation, creating an experience that is both intellectually engaging and quietly immersive. Its simplicity is its strength, allowing the mechanics to shine without unnecessary complexity. While its short length and occasional precision issues may limit its appeal, it remains a rewarding experience for players who appreciate thoughtful, physics-based puzzles and the freedom to approach them in their own way. This is a very good puzzle game. The progression introduces new elements and unlike many puzzlers the levels can have more than one solution. Easy enough to finish the levels although completion takes many tries. I got it for 80% off and it was well worth it.
