I liked the story, I think it is a great story. The story is serious, but the game has a lighter, humorous tone (but it is not a comedy per se). The game is 15 years old, but the graphics still look good. The riddles, puzzles can give you a run for your money, but I think they are fair, logical. Sometimes they are simpler, sometimes they are complex, but they are solvable, I did not have to ask the game for help. Several exotic locations, likeable characters (I even liked the bad guys). The game is slick, very user-friendly, it can be controlled completely and easily with the mouse. And when you beat the game, you receive some bonus content (and I got an Award, too, for doing a certain thing in the game). Great, very enjoyable, story-rich point-and-click adventure game in the vein of the Indiana Jones movies (with some direct references, the Ford Trimotor transport plane is just one of them). Highly recommended. And do not forget, there is a sequel to this game. If you liked this game, you should give a try to the sequel, too.

It plays like a classic adventure movie turned into a puzzle game. It may not be flashy, polished, or especially innovative, but its familiar charm still makes it enjoyable throughout.

This is a somewhat slight, but decent enough adventure game. It didn’t wow me, but made for an entertaining few hours. I had been looking for a lightish game to play in the late evenings to relax, something with a decent story but not too heavy gameplay. This seem to fit the bill. Gameplay wise it is your standard point and click adventure, click to interact with objectives, combine items or use them on objects in the world. Some of the puzzles seem somewhat complex for the sake of it, suffering very much from the point and click syndrome of puzzles that make no logical real world sense. For instance at one point you have to trick a photographer that there’s a no photography allowed with a fake poster. The solution is to travel half way across the city to a museum, paint a door handle red and press another poster you find to it. During this you are supposed to be under some time pressure to get to another area, though that doesn’t actually effect gameplay. Overall none of the puzzles were that hard, it’s pretty easy to click on all objects and items and find something that works. There was a tangled wire puzzle I looked up, but that was because it appeared to be an exercise in tedium, tracing the wires, rather than a puzzle you actually have to think about. Graphically it looks pretty nice. It is 3d models on hand painted backgrounds. The backgrounds are gorgeous, like paintings in motion and the globe trotting plot gives a lovely variety. The character models are serviceable. They have a slightly cartoonish look to them that covers the fact they probably aren’t detailed. The game overall runs great and is stable, which isn’t surprising. The story is pretty standard rip off Indiana Jones material, though it motors along nicely through a series of locations, though it descends into a bit too much mystic rubbish at the end. It also ends abruptly after the main villain is defeated, with little wrap up and with one characters betrayal never shown to have any consequence. The characters are pretty entertaining and all well voice acted. I did find the insistence on the very standard point and click puzzles as a solution to be a bit grating at times in relation to the main character and the story as the game progressed though. I get that this is a point and click game, and the devs likely had limited resources, but that doesn’t exactly match with the rip roaring adventure story the game is trying to tell. It makes the main character, Fenton look like a crazy man who rifles through bins for random rubbish, rather than doing something sensible like acquire a gun to deal with the Nazi’s and triads chasing him. This is despite the fact he is an ex Army officer. Overall this is a bit of a meh, but it’s not bad game, and worth giving it a go if you like point and click adventure games or stuff set in the 1930s. Personally I love historical stuff like that, so I got a bit of a kick out the game despite it’s limitations.

You can just tell this game went through a lot of revisions, the plot feels like it is being made up on the spot. It's enjoyable still even if you end up in having to try everything with everything to get the exact set of steps to achieve the obvious goal sometimes. Besides, you can't go with a kung fu fight out of nowhere as your ending, approved.

It is strange, sometimes, to go back to a game that you have played some time ago at a different point in your life. I know I played Lost Horizon when it first came out in 2010, then using a disc and not on Steam, but I did not remember about 80% of the game while replaying it the last couple of weeks. Maybe that is a good thing, as many of the story elements -- particularly the game's portrayal of women -- have not aged well. The ending (specifically, the sudden romance ) is atrocious, to say the least. I cannot remember that 2010-me found it as bad as 2025-me, but here we are. Despite these flaws, I would still recommend the game for a particular audience: German-speaking fans of classic point-and-click adventures, specifically those created by German developers in the 2000s and early 2010s, as this game is sort-of the pinnacle of that particular era. Its puzzle design is overall quite excellent, with the game respecting the time of its players by avoiding red herrings, dead ends and moon logic, for the most part. It also does not waste time with logical transitions between set pieces, finding sometimes convoluted shortcuts to move Paddock from one chapter to the next without caring for plot holes along the way. In the tradition of Indiana Jones and Hollywood movies, story progression trumps logical details, especially in the latter chapters that seem to fly by at a moment's notice. The graphics are okay for its time. While the backgrounds are detailed and pretty, the 3D animations are stiff, lack details and often do not match the background well. This lack of technical polish is common for pretty much all point-and-click adventure games of that era (and previous eras), so it's not a dealbreaker for fans of the genre (like me), especially since the voice acting more than makes up for it. I played it in German, where some iconic voice actors are used to bring the characters to life, and this quality pretty much carries the motivation to see the end of the game all the way. Recommended for the aforementioned fans of the genre, specifically the German 2000s 3D point-and-click adventure fans. The game can often be bought at deep discounts for less than 2€, at which point it is an absolute steal.
