A great spin on a ghost game! Finally one that isn't mainly about finding out about the ghost, and only finding out how to survive it while you rob people broke! The tasks given to you for each round is to hack data, find secret messages or specific paintings to steal/destroy, find ID cards, safe codes, hack servers, or even destroy a ghost orb. The tasks, which actually are somewhat simple once you get the hang of things, are made more difficult by the ghost that haunts the location you choose. Once the bells ring for midnight, it's on! Each randomly chosen ghost has their own specials, behaviors, and interactions, which can make some jobs even tougher. Keeping track of the closest hiding spot to you at all times is deadly important, otherwise you'll end up in the spirit world trying to help your teammates from the other side. Finish the job successfully and escape unharmed so you can gain favor with the boss and earn money, intel, perks, etc. Hacking: The hacking tasks are fairly mundane and easy, but when the risk of a random hunt looms in the background of your mind, they can get stressful. Some hacks are done by clicking circles, finding the odd man out, translating numbers and letters, and even basic math. They've added new ones in as well, such as navigating a maze and tracing wires, which are fun to figure out, but the added time can make them risky. Work fast and accurately, every second counts! Side/Secondary Missions: When they added these, my friends and I completely became obsessed! Instead of just finding the photos, cameras, data, and black market items that were originally included, now there's extras to work on to help gain more XP and money! Finding paintings by scanning them with cameras or using a UV light, finding secret messages, spray painting locations, or even trying to find an ID badge hidden somewhere in a room where UV footprints led you definitely adds on a ton more gameplay and excitement. While not all of them are necessary to complete the heist, they are definitely worth the extra time! Maps: They're still adding more, and they're great! Originally there were just a few medium to large maps, which were somewhat hard to manage if playing solo. But since then, they've added a few small maps as well as a couple more medium and large, which is super nice for fearless solo players. Plus the new Police Station map added with the 1.0 update is great! The atmosphere on the maps are great, layouts are awesome, and even the decor (or lack thereof in some) make them spooky yet manageable. Hopefully more will come out in time! The maps are set though, and not procedurally generated, so while certain locations of items to find or hack change, the maps themselves are easy to memorize. Circuit breakers, server rooms, and depending on the Black Market Mission Modifiers, hiding spots don't change. (Find the bathrooms, trust me! Safest hiding spots around!) Ghosts: The ghost models and abilities are extremely unique and wonderful! Each ghost type has their own strengths and weaknesses, which make each round challenging in different ways. One round you can get the hulking mass that shakes the entire building when it walks around, so you know when it's hunting, and the next you can get the completely silent floater that can creep up behind you before you know it. Learning behaviors is fun and challenging, but once you get it, you can manage each round easily once you get the first hunt and find out the ghost. Each challenging spirit makes their own sounds too, so learning those can make it easier to differentiate before the first hunt hits. (I love the crying woman!!!) Round Modifiers: The Black Market Missions that they added in a while back definitely makes the round a heck of a lot more interesting. Each one, ranging from the easiest one at 1 star and maxing out at the most difficult 5 star, adds both pros and cons. For example, you can get a percentage more XP or money, more safes, more black market items, and such, but the ghost can change, or you can get 2 ghosts, or less hiding spots, etc. There's both free ones to choose from, or you can pay data to generate your own based on difficulty level, so go crazy! If you want to add more difficulty to the game, this is the way to do it. Gear: Originally we were only given the standard gear of a phone, tablet, flashlight, and lockpick. The phone also had a camera and the flashlight also had a UV. When the new missions, modifiers, and side quests were added, they also added more gear. A separate camera, UV light, USB stick, bat, spray paint, etc. Each one is upgradeable for added benefits, including adding the UV back to the standard flashlight and the camera back to the phone (they were originally removed with the new update, but were added back due to player request). Learning what each does and how they work is key for staying alive and completing everything as quickly as possible. The upgrades are worth it! Modules: You can print modules by using money, which can add buffs to your character. They come in different levels, all random, and have different additions to your buffs, which are also random. You can spend a lot of money getting those epic ones, but again, well worth it! (Get the entity detection one as quick as possible! It may take some rolls of it to get it, but it can save your life.) Characters/Customization: The characters to choose from don't themselves come with anything special, other than the clothing you can buy for them. I will say that they all look kind of like dirty plastic dolls, but I love that about them. (My go-to girl I lovingly call MaGaga, since she looks like a mix of Madonna and Lady Gaga.) With the 1.0 update they added in new clothes, so now I have to save up to buy the new stuff, after finally saving up enough to get the paper bag (that I haven't even used yet, lol). I love that they're adding more, though I think some extra customization would be nice. Maybe throwing in the ability to change color on the super special and super expensive gear, or even some secret buffs on the high end stuff? Anything is possible, and the devs are great, so you never know! In general, I love this game, and have loved following the development of it throughout the time I've been playing. I recommend it to anyone that loves the spooky stuff, but doesn't want to have to worry about finding out what the ghost is and how to banish it and instead just wants to survive it while stealing or destroying stuff. It's extremely replayable, has great atmosphere, performs well, looks great, and is tons of fun! Just get it already!!!
