So, I've had my eye on this game for a bit, and decided to pick it up on sale during the Autumn sale last week for $14 USD. If you're expecting a hardcore realistic Vietnam shooter like Rising Storm 2 Vietnam, this isn't it. But, if you like the idea of Counter Strike Vietnam, then this is right up your alley! You have 2 factions, US Army and Viet Cong. However, they actually have customization options for other ones too. For example, you pick U.S. Army, and you can choose your character from American 1 (White) American 2 (Black) Australian, and South Vietnamese. But that isn't the draw here, the real draw is the weapons! It says it has over 200 weapons and they aren't kidding! This isn't your anachronistic Call of Duty stuff either, this is like stuff that was actually used during the period, even if it was in miniscule numbers. You have your run of the mill M16 variants for US and AK variants for VC, but you also get some stuff you probably haven't even heard of before! Did you know that some Luger P08s were issued to the CIA after WW2? Well, apparently they were, so you can use them! Did you know the VC were running low on RPKs, so they started making their own out of Type 56s? Well, they did, and the Tul 1 is available! And how many games can you think of that have all of the variants of the Stoner 63 available? This one freaking does! Now, it's arcadey and everything, but they put a lot of effort into making the weapons, like being able to use single action, double action, and fanning the hammer as different firing modes for the revolvers! Anyway, weapons aside, the game has a solid ground work, and even though it's early access, it feels so polished! This is literally Counter Strike Vietnam with a variety of different game modes, like TDM, Capture the Flag, Domination, Gun Game, etc. on a variety of different maps. You also have Steam Workshop support for more maps, and full bot support if you want to play solo. There are even bots on servers to fill in the gaps too. Unlike Counter Strike, you can ADS with all the weapons, deploy bipods, adjust scope magnification, hold breath, and even attach your bayonet! Also, as an added bonus, there's a zombies mode! That's right, if you like the game Killing Floor, this is literally that in Vietnam! Did anybody ask for this? No. Is anybody complaining? No way! Most of the 12 hours I've spent in the game at the time of writing this review has been in Zombies! You even have access to bonus weapons like the Browning Auto 5, XM202 Flash (Classic 4 barrel Rocket Launcher) and the AKM GP-25! Y'know, since they'd be OP in regular modes, but point is, it's cool. You fight waves of Zombies, get money, and use it to buy weapons and set up defenses all to survive wave 20 to win. Then it starts again. It's simple, straightforward, but very fun! Sorry this review is so long, so I'll summarize. Literally Counter Strike Vietnam with tons of period accurate weapons to play with. Also comes with the bonus Zombies mode that's kind of like an extra game on top of the base game. Has bots and a workshop. Is it worth the money? I'd say, absolutely! From my time playing, the community seems pretty chill and fun to get along with too, though you may get a rotten apple every now and then, though it is rare.

Pure fun, no BS, no option to pay $40 to have a Seth Rogan skin, no toxic community, no battle royal. Lots of guns, simple and fun.

One of the single most impressive AI implementations I've ever seen, the bots in this game are genuinely incredible. They play strategically and convincingly fill out lobbies with human-like behavior enough to make this 100% fun with even 1-2 people in tow. This emulates the best of the older COD games to a T with punchy gameplay that far outclasses it's meager pricetag; This puts AAA games to shame with it's AI alone. An absolute masterpiece of multiplayer design that captures an era of shooters largely unplayable now in any meaningful way. I couldn't recommend this any more!

The good old Source engine – who would have thought that it would experience a venerable revival with a Vietnam shooter? When I bought this game, I had a quiet hope: that a new game could revive the spirit of times long past, times when some of the best multiplayer shooters ever, based on Source, were at their peak. Day of Defeat: Source; Counter-Strike: Source; And now, 20 years later, a new offspring. Set in Vietnam. Could it get any better? Hardly. My enthusiasm as a long-serving Day of Defeat veteran aside, there are still no negative points to criticize for this game. The principle: Two teams compete against each other in various modes. The classics like Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and Deathmatch need no further explanation. Each side, either the Vietcong or the Americans, has an absurdly high number of realistically implemented handguns at their disposal. From well-known classics like the M16 and the AK47 to lesser-known models like the Stoner 63A or the TUL-1 to exotic models like the Reising Model 55 or the Zastava M56 - over 200 realistically reproduced handguns are waiting to be used. Additionally, each side offers a choice of different classes, each with its own advantages and disadvantages: Assault, Medic, Gunner, Engineer, Radioman, and Sniper. Furthermore, each soldier can have a unique appearance. The uniform can be customized from head to toe. You unlock the clothing items by reaching new ranks. So, in full-scale battles, no two soldiers look the same. The damage models and sound effects are also realistic, immersing the player deeply in the action. The map design is great. Community maps can also be downloaded via the workshop, including classic Counter-Strike maps like Dust 2. Unfortunately, the game currently lacks a player base, but you can add bots as you wish. The bots are good at hitting targets and can be divided into different difficulty levels. They even behave quite intelligently. The developers release new updates every week and take excellent care of the game. That's something you'd really like to see in many other games. So, what can I say in conclusion about this great game? It has everything. It shows that the Source engine is far from finished. A multiplayer shooter like you've longed for. You're immediately transported back to the good old days, if only there were more players! Even solo with bots, it offers many hours of fun. Recommended!
