A solid 2D puzzle platformer where the main draw is the launching jump that you use as your primary means of movement. You can aim a jump's trajectory with the stick and later unlock the ability to hover and re-aim your jump which serves as the game's double jump mechanic. If this non-standard jump does not appeal to you, you probably won't enjoy this title. It's a reasonably fun time even if there are some clunky aspects to the gameplay and way they choose to deliver the story.

7/10 To be honest, I was not so much fascinated by the game. I understand why it has so much positive reviews: it is very well done. So the main complain here can only be the story (and maybe the difficulty in some parts). PROS: + graphics/art + gameplay + cool ideas (like reading the minds) CONS: - can get real difficult - ending was not that satisfying - no voice acting You run around and find some memories here and there. Which are in the end pretty lame in my opinion. I prefered the mindreading feature for all the creatures. Collecting the memories was not that difficult, I nearly got them all on my first playthrough. They are in most cases not hidden liken in other games where you search for hours. I couldn't find all the mindreading crap. I don't know why, since I really jumped on everything. But what triggered me the most was the missing voice acting. The whole story is told in subtitles. The "cutscenes" also sometimes contain text (in a dialog) which is pretty long but put into one single line. Linebreaks would have been really good in here. The subtitle thing is a problem since you are sometimes focused on fighting something or jumping around so you cannot move your eyes to the bottom and read some shaky text (yeah, it shakes sometimes which makes it more annoying to read). So I missed some parts of the story. The difficulty is sometimes really high. There are some boss fights, you will smash your controller against the wall. It's like you only need one more hit for the enemy to die but of course your last jump is too short by 1cm. You fall and die. This drove me insane at some parts. So you have to jump, avoid and hit nearly in perfection. tl;dr: I think if I had the chance of buying this again, I wouldn't. There is just nothing that important for me in this game. I think the story just was not that interesting to me since many parts were not explained ... I am also NOT a fan of the "comic" style storytelling. It is like Kena ... well done, good looking ... but the story is just meh. But maybe it is also because I hate "empty" worlds ... I like many NPCs like in Witcher or Baldur's Gate so that the world feels alive. I give a thumbs up because the game was well done and has some interesting features. But from perspective of the story: thumbs down.

I just finished MO: Astray, and I have to say it's an absolute favorite! The gameplay is smooth and inventive, with original mechanics that make each puzzle satisfying to solve. The boss fights are intense and bring a great challenge. Visually, the pixel art style is stunning, and the sound design perfectly enhances the game's dark and mysterious atmosphere. Special mention to the captivating story, subtly revealed through exploration. All in all, a must-play for fans of platformers and puzzles. A well-deserved 8/10 from me!

Puzzle platformer that takes place in some ruins because the humans acted upon their arrogance that made them feel like it's justified to harm their fellow humans? Sign me up. (It's not mainly about it, but it has it) [*]Started the game on Hard difficulty. Platforming's been fun so far, occasionally they put sense of danger and urgency that made sense, so that part was acceptable. [*]The warning about controller turned out to be true, keyboard-mouse might be easier for this game. Took a bit of time to get used with the jump on controller but as there's not much stuff going on, it's not a major hassle. [*]They seem to be cooking hard with the story. Highly appreciated the way brain scans are recorded, too bad the computers can't be accessed most of the time. I enjoyed Rain World (just a bit) and The Swapper, so this one's really fun :) I love hating on humans

MO Astray is an absolute peach of a game. Just a great take on the platformer genre without the usual double trip jump dash bash mechanic that we're all used to. Looks lovely, sounds fantastic and plays great.
