Montaro RE is basically the original Montaro, but prettier and somehow harder to look at. RE is noticeably more detailed, with busier backgrounds, more characters, signs, and scenery, which also makes hazards a little harder to spot. The graphics are improved, sure, but the screen also feels busier, so half the time I'm not dodging obstacles, I'm just discovering them at high speed. Still, the formula works. You run, jump, collect pantsu, dodge whatever you can, and eventually get humbled by a banana peel. It's weirdly lovable, chaotic, and just frustrating enough to make every decent run feel like an achievement by itself. A worthy follow-up to the original. They did get a little cheap with the achievements this time though, nearly half as many. Someone clearly told the Shiba to stop handing them out like candy. 8/10. More pixels. More chaos. Achievement budget cuts.
