Brings back good memories of AC Brotherhood multiplayer, only without everyone running on roofs like idiots. Also this has dedicated servers so it's at no risk of a multiplayer shutdown like the AC games. There are a few mechanics to encourage stealthy game play and penalise running around like mad. My one complaint is that guards are a little bit silly. Guards work by policing an area and preventing hostile actions. They can become temporarily distracted, during which time hostile actions can take place near the guard. Where things get silly is that you can be arrested for attempting to stun someone hunting you in front of a guard. The guard then scribbles in his notebook, which means he is "distracted". The hunter that the guard prevented you from stunning now kills you literally a foot away from the guard as they continue scribbling. If you can avoid that bit of silliness, it's definitely worth a few bucks on sale. Servers are empty, so grab a few friends to play with. It does have bots if you have no friends, but they don't pose much of a challenge.
Despite negative reviews, there really isn't much here to hate. Sure, the game had a bit of a rocky start with bugs and server hosting, but it's grown to be much more than that. It's a great game by design, an action murder mystery arcade game of cat and mouse; only difference is you're not only the cat, but also the mouse. The only faults with this game can be summarized in three different categories: Minor bugs, population, and neglect. First point is bugs, there aren't very many in 2020 aside from a guard bug that freezes the player when too many actions are preformed. However, this bug isn't very common, out of 120 games, it may only happen 10 times, and only if the players are rowdy enough to cause it to happen. Among bot players, it is far more common, but I don't believe they count towards my point. Another bug would be the visual bug when assassinating someone from a vignette that contains any holdable entity like a pie or a tankard. Once a kill is executed from one of these vignettes, the entity in your hands has a chance to despawn since it is replaced with the murder weapon for a few seconds. Moving an inch will fix this however. In terms of population, as of today, the player peak was 109 for Murderous Pursuits. Take this as you will, but the game isn't as popular as it once was. The all-time peak for this game was 144,294 back when it first came to be, and I don't believe it will ever rise back to it's formal glory. Despite this however, the game can still be thoroughly enjoyed with friends or with the in-game AI. In terms of AI, MP does an excellent job with their artificial intelligence. The AI acts as real players most of the time, and are very immersive. Sometimes, the AI will feign lag to simulate real people, and it puts a smile on my face. Although the population is low, the AI makes up for this loss, as well as friends to play this game with. The game used to be priced at $20, and is now much more accessible at $10. If you have cash to spare, it's worth the fun. Now for my final point, neglect. Don't get me wrong, the game is wonderful, but there's a lot of dents that need to be ironed out. The game hasn't been updated in a very long time, and it's fairly evident by the fact that the DLC Mr. X Edition skins have not been added to the newer 8 characters, nor has the 'Mask' victory pose been updated for the 8 new characters. When you purchase the Deluxe Edition, you are only getting skins and poses for half of the characters, whether or not this is worth it is up to the buyer. I would also like to point out that when playing MP, the common player may find the overpoweredness of the Flash and the Counter. These are abilities that I'm sure would be nerfed or reworked if the game had a larger playerbase. A lot of the abilities could use a rework, an example being that Humiliation is less effective than Disguise in the fact that Humiliation gives less points, and is more risky. High risk low reward is not a good incentive to use an ability, especially if it's actually a detriment in most if not all gamemodes thanks to it's exposure destroying capabilities. This is not to say that these overpowered abilities can't be countered, if you're a seasoned player it's easy to spot when these abilities are in use most of the time, and Flash can be sidestepped if you act quick enough. But it's often not quick enough in most situations, depending on how the Flash is used. In theory, it's possible to avoid overpowered abilities, but a gameplay tweak would be much appreciated. With these points aside, this game is still one of my top favourites in terms of replayability. A lot of people will tell you it's repetitive, but depending on what company you have over, it can be one of the greatest party games out there to enjoy with all of your friends. I give this game a 7/10, it's come a long way from 2018, and it's much better for it. However it is unfortunate to see a game like this go abandoned by it's community, and minorly neglected by it's developers due to this fact. Amazing game, tragic happenstance. 7/10.
Are you into stealth games? This is a game for you then! You have a target you must find and kill (They can stun you and remove themself as your target) You also have one or more hunters (They are chasing you) Avoid them. The more you move around the easier it becomes for the hunted and hunters to see you. You have a few different skills to use to assist you in finding your target and keeping youself alive. This game is fun!! The maps are awesome. It can get repetitive after a while and it's a bit of a learning curve but after a few games you should have it down. One thing that is a big turn off for me is there is no party system. I can't party up and play with my friends. We have to count down and click quick match at the same time and hope that you get into a match together. another thing, hunters should take priority over quarries. A quarry can easy slap the ♥♥♥♥ out of hunter if he clicks just a second faster than the hunter. When hunter should always take priority since the goal of the game is to hide from your hunter and not just slap them left and right. also there is some lag, which doesnt affect the gameplay much. But it can be frustrating. There is a small amount of customization, a few characters and color varients. But I feel that more progression could be added into the game with earning points (Favour). There are several gameplay improvements over the predecessor, The Ship, which makes this game much more balanced and fun. ✓ Needs system replaced with a single exposure system ✓ One click kill instead of requiring players to spam attack ✓ Enhanced 'mingle with npc' mechanic ✓ Intuitive target tracker system, players had to repeatedly open map in The Ship to figure out where their target is ❌ Bring back waltz music
When you mix The Ship and Assassin's Creed, you get this game. A beautiful, greatly themed hunting game where you must hunt your quarry, or wait to be hunted yourself. The game itself is really good; really satisfying voice acting, and well-designed maps. The only flaw is the lack of community (probably caused by the set price of greedy devs). The bad reviews mentioning the lack of community isn't helping either, because that's sure to drive people away - please think first before writing a bad review if you want the game to improve.
