I’m genuinely impressed. As someone with little programming experience, I was worried the visual node system would be intimidating—but it’s incredibly intuitive. The drag-and-drop interface lets you experiment freely, and I’ve actually picked up some useful logic concepts that translate well to Python and GDScript. No prior coding knowledge is needed; just play around and see what happens. What keeps it fresh after dozens of runs is the sheer variety. With 190+ nodes, 13 characters, modifiers, and enhancements, I keep discovering new synergies. It never feels stagnant. The roguelite loop is also refreshingly non-punishing—failures don’t feel like dead ends. A quick trip to the Dark Market to upgrade or swapping characters keeps the momentum going. The “no RNG” claim isn’t 100% accurate (you do get random node drops and enemy loot), but it’s fair. Getting lucky early can turn a run into a power fantasy, but skill and smart node chaining still matter. The difficulty curve is challenging but fair—even for a non-pro gamer like me. Roadblocks exist, but they’re surmountable with persistence. Each character feels distinct, boosting different node families, which encourages finding a playstyle that matches your thinking (or blasting) preferences. And for Linux users: it runs flawlessly on Arch. No tweaks needed.

This game takes the combat customization of Transistor to the next level and applies it to Vampire Survivors gameplay, and I love it. The art and music are great. It's my new SteamDeck obsession. Only issues I've had so far are with node tooltips blocking the ports I'm trying to connect, and a weird focus bug where the focus animation triggers somewhere other than the mouse cursor and then plays on repeat.

The main feature of this game that separates it from other survivor-like or horde autoshooter games is that after selecting upgrades you can, at any time, modify how they interact with each other via the programming tree. It makes for a much less mindless experience than most of the genre, although at some point you start to figure out how which upgrades connect best and picking/connecting upgrades becomes more automatic. Think of it as sort of an extra dimension on upgrading. It also has the slight variation that you get permanent-upgrade money by actively hacking chips (standing over them for X amount of time) in the levels, a thing you have to consciously focus on doing. Just playing levels without hacking the chips doesn't automatically give you points for permanent upgrades. Other than these and catchy music it's a pretty basic game. Solid recommend for these gameplay variations, though - they're creative and work well.

Net.Attack() is solid game. It blends different micro-genres together, forming this odd sort of roguelite weapon crafting quasi-tower defense programming ARPG. Early access games are always subject to change, and I've been here since the beginning. The game has slowed down a bit with the changes, like others have said, but it was necessary. At launch, the game was super fast because scaling was frankly broken. Most skills/attributes could be safely ignored. That is no longer the case. You need to build more thoughtfully now, which makes sense given the logic aspect to the game. The basic loop is this: You pick a character, each with different mechanics (e.g., some focus on lasers, others on poisoning, etc). You pick a map. Your goal is to extract data (stand in special spots) before the timer runs out. You'll also need to balance scaling by grinding the waves of enemies. You can strategize a bit, by focusing on either beefing up and brute forcing your way through waves, or by accelerating how fast you can extract data and thus get off the map quicker before waves become real threats. During all of this, you're using simple programmer logic to make attacks. This is not a programming game, but if you're a software engineer like me, it makes things a piece of cake. It has various loops and such, but the game explains things pretty clearly. You can also TINKER, mid-game, so you aren't locked into any one setup. The game really rewards experimentation, so mess around with different combos and logic. You'll sometimes surprise yourself by creating screen-clearing attacks. It's a fun twist on the weapon crafting subgenre of games. Quick to get in and out of, runs well on Steam Deck, and is priced reasonably.
