Ninja Stealth 3 is a really simple stealth puzzle game, but I think that is exactly what makes it work. I am controlling a little ninja who has to get a computer into a room without being detected. There are 30 levels, and each one is basically about watching the guards, finding a safe route and getting from one side of the room to the other. The game does not waste time with a story or complicated systems, so I can just start solving the levels and trying to figure out what the game wants me to do. The main mechanic is hiding, and I like how much it changes the way I move around the levels. I can stay behind boxes so the guards cannot see me, and I can even disguise myself as a box to get through areas that would otherwise be impossible. The disguise is probably my favourite part because it gives me another option besides simply waiting for an opening. I have to think about where the guards are looking and whether moving at the wrong time will expose me. It is simple, but some levels make me stop and actually plan the route before I move. The levels also get better when I start understanding how the detection works. I cannot just run straight through because eventually I will get caught, so I have to use cover and timing properly. A mistake usually means I have to restart and try again, which can be frustrating, but the levels are short enough that I do not feel like I have wasted a huge amount of time. I like that most failures teach me something. After getting caught, I normally have a better idea of where I should move the next time. The problem is that there is not much more to the game than those 30 levels. The basic mechanics are good, but they do not really expand into anything much deeper. Once I have learned how the guards and boxes work, the later levels are mostly asking me to use the same ideas in slightly harder layouts. I would have liked more different enemy behaviours, extra stealth tools or levels that changed the rules in bigger ways. The game is fun while I am solving it, but it can feel more like a collection of small puzzles than a full stealth adventure. The presentation is also very basic, although I do not think that hurts it too badly. The simple top down rooms make it easy for me to see the guards and understand the level layout, which is much more important here than having detailed graphics. There is not much atmosphere or personality outside the ninja theme, but I do like how clear everything is. I never have to guess what a box does or where a guard is looking. For this kind of puzzle game, that clarity is actually more useful to me than flashy visuals would be. One thing I cannot ignore is the achievement setup. The game has 5000 Steam achievements, which is an absurd number compared with the actual amount of gameplay. I can understand why that might appeal to someone who likes collecting achievements, but to me it does not really add anything to the game itself. I would much rather have seen more levels or more interesting stealth mechanics than such a huge amount of achievement clutter. It makes the game feel tied to a very specific kind of Steam experience rather than being built entirely around making the puzzle game better. Overall, Ninja Stealth 3 is a decent little stealth puzzle game that does a few things well and keeps everything very simple. I like hiding behind boxes, using the box disguise and working out safe routes through the 30 levels. The lack of variety and the huge achievement focus hold it back, and I think the game needed more mechanics to really stand out from other small puzzle games. Still, the levels are easy to understand, the stealth idea works and the short format means I can finish a few puzzles without making a big commitment. Rating: 7.6/10
Ninja Stealth 3 feels much closer to the original Ninja Stealth than Ninja Stealth 2, and returning to that style works well. I plan to fully complete the achievements eventually. Most are tied to playtime rather than progression, which I do not mind because finishing the game is still required for bragging rights but just playing is also rewarded. Running it in the background like I am now? - Not so much. Watching my progression milestones unlock over time is satisfying. If the developers want achievements that encourage more skill-based replayability, there are some interesting possibilities. A time-pressure mode could work well. For example, an enemy could track the player by breaking through doors you previously used. If they catch you, the run ends and you must restart. This would add tension and make survival achievements more meaningful. Different life modes could also add variety. The current infinite retry style is accessible, but a limited-life mode or one-life hardcore mode could create higher stakes for experienced players. After completing the game, a random level generator could extend replay value further. Players could use custom seeds or try community-tested solvable seeds. Overall, the game has strong potential and a solid foundation for long-term replayability. I think perhaps some of these ideas could go into Ninja Stealth 7 or whatever, because this game is already complete in itself, if just a stepping stone in the longer series.
