This is a really beautiful game, with a lovely story. The music and art both exist in the same space where very 'light touches' serve to nuance everything in a peculiar but stunning way. Don't just look for a game to barrel through, should you play this one. Take a minute and watch the animation frames carefully, notice the lighting, listen closely to the delicate music (For example, think of the saxophone soloing over traditional eastern instruments as being much like a modern Westerner out of place in a mythical Eastern world, then you'll get the idea of the type of thought that went into augmenting and lifting this art game above the rabble. There is a certain continuity of vision here that one seldom sees in a game). Olija was a real joy to play and I went through it a second time just to show my partner this beautiful, climactic fight scene near the end. My appreciation came after I realized what was going on; my first 30 minutes or so was spent in a bit of confusion, since I approached it like I might approach other games, trying to learn / master mechanics and such and expecting the 'run-of-the-mill' design choices that I'm used to encountering. In short, this game won a special little place in my heart where I know I'll never forget it. Thanks, creators. <3

Olija is a great and pretty short game that I really enjoyed and would definitely recommend. I really enjoyed the combat and traversal. You get a good variety of combat options as you progress through the game. Enemies often have clear tells so you can somewhat reliably avoid damage and there’s also a pretty decent amount of healing scattered through the levels so the game wasn’t too challenging but it wasn’t a mindless affair. The game also has a great sense of progression, the hub of the game grows and expands with shops and people as you go through the story and by the end what was a desolate little hunk of wood turns into a really nice and homely place. My favorite part of the combat/progression system was the hats. During the game you can find various materials to craft hats that change your appearance and combat style (The acid one is the best, don't @ me). The game also has some really cool boss fights, a highlight being a battle up a tower against an opponent with a similar moveset. The story was pretty basic, just you going to places and getting keys to leave. But the setting was really interesting, you’re kind of in the middle of a conflict between the dominant faction of monsters and the queenless and dwindling faction of noble-ish knights. You rescue their princess and that really kicks the conflict up a notch, they have a chance now and so do you. Once you rescue the princess that kicks off the more serious plot, both parties mobilize more. It also begins a silent romance between Faraday and the princess, Olija. Which leads to some really cool and memorable sequences, like sneaking past guards to give her a flower or a spear duel culminating in a romantic scene. By the end of the adventure I felt quite attached to this strange world I had grown used to and it was a sad goodbye.

Excellent game. Dripping with style and ambiance. The combat is fast and snappy without being overly complicated. Getting combos can be challenging but is oh so satisfying. The storyline is one of heartbreak, sacrifice and heroism. My only lament is that it's not that long.

Beautifully made game with outstanding music and ambiance. The game play is fluid and well designed. it is on the shorter side for length ~5.5 hours and the ending left me with a little more to be desired. That being said, $15 is a fair price and I am left feeling overall content with my purchase. I am overjoyed to support such talented developers.
