Project Planet - Earth vs Humanity is a party game where up to six players can take on the roles of our good old Earth, trying to wipe out humanity, and five leaders of Homo sapiens, desperately trying to save it. Only one player needs to own the game – the others can join for free! The game is turn-based: first, Earth decides how exactly to torment humankind, and then each human leader, in turn, decides what actions to take and how many resources to spend to counter it. And the options are more than diverse! Although, due to a lack of viewers willing to give it a try, I played alone against bots, I can imagine that with real people the game would be endlessly fun – so give it a chance. And yes, I’d really be happy if at least someone joined the sad little duck next time :( Video: https://youtu.be/fPdZiK9resw

Project Planet – Earth vs Humanity by Fifth Harbour Studios, in collaboration with infibit, is a refreshing and inventive take on the survival strategy genre that blends competitive and cooperative multiplayer elements within a party game format. Released in late 2023, it challenges players to engage in an asymmetrical battle between the forces of Earth itself and humanity’s attempts to survive a cascade of escalating global disasters. One player assumes the role of Planet Earth, wielding the power to unleash devastating events like pandemics, asteroid impacts, and environmental catastrophes to wipe out humanity. Meanwhile, up to five other players take on distinct roles—world leaders, scientists, media figures, industrialists, and the general public—each with unique abilities and priorities, working together yet often with conflicting agendas to protect humanity and adapt to the unfolding crises. What makes Project Planet stand out is its innovative asymmetrical gameplay, where the lone Earth player operates almost like a final boss with a suite of destructive tools, while the human players collaborate and compete in complex ways to mitigate damage and manage resources. The human roles are carefully designed to reflect real-world systems and societal challenges, adding layers of thematic depth to the experience. Decision-making is at the heart of the gameplay, as players must constantly weigh risky choices and moral dilemmas that can drastically change the course of the game. The branching narrative outcomes ensure high replayability, with every session offering fresh twists and unpredictable interactions. The game’s design philosophy prioritizes accessibility without sacrificing strategic complexity. By adopting a party game structure where players use mobile devices as controllers, Project Planet lowers the barrier to entry, encouraging both casual gamers and strategy enthusiasts to jump in quickly and easily. The compact session sizes and straightforward interface allow for quick setup and dynamic play, making it well suited for social gatherings or online multiplayer fun. The balance of power constantly shifts, keeping all players engaged and fostering a lively atmosphere of tension and cooperation. Visually, Project Planet embraces a colorful and stylized art style that complements its lighthearted yet thought-provoking tone. The graphics are not hyper-realistic but are clear and visually appealing, providing intuitive feedback on events and player actions. The user interface is clean and navigable, ensuring that players can focus on strategy rather than getting bogged down in menus. The inclusion of a substantial number of Steam achievements adds an additional layer of challenge and incentive to explore different roles and strategies. Since its launch, the game has garnered a positive reception, particularly for its originality, social gameplay, and thematic resonance. Players appreciate how it combines humor, strategy, and social dynamics to create an engaging multiplayer experience that feels fresh in a crowded market. The developers have demonstrated a commitment to ongoing support, rolling out updates that introduce new content, gameplay modes like Quick Game for shorter sessions, and additional language options, broadening the game’s reach and appeal. Overall, Project Planet – Earth vs Humanity is a unique blend of strategy, social interaction, and environmental storytelling wrapped in an accessible party game format. It offers a rich experience for those interested in exploring survival themes through the lens of multiplayer cooperation and competition. While its casual style keeps the gameplay light and approachable, the strategic depth and meaningful choices give it lasting appeal. For players looking for a game that challenges their tactical thinking while fostering fun, dynamic group play, Project Planet delivers an inventive and satisfying journey. Rating: 7/10
