It was pretty good, but I honestly don't know if I can recommend it. It took me a few years to get to, since it starts pretty slow and is just two women yapping about some dumb social media bullshit that nobody with half of a working brain gives a shit about for the first three chapters. But if you're a dedicated homestuck fan (like I am, which is probably how you found out about this game in the first place) then you can read more of the story before deciding if you like it or not. In my opinion, it actually picks up at chapter 3. Don't read it if you don't like overly depressing stories, gay relationships, or can't understand politics. tl;dr it picks up after chapter 3. I wonder if this is just hussie trying to express himself, by making a visual novel based on his experiences with social media. I hope not, but it would explain the ending. P.S. Does anyone know what the grey ghosts mean?

this is tough to recommend honestly, as one of the only pieces of media to hit so close to home for me with regards to my vast internet trauma and severe ptsd from fighting in a surreal war of nonsense, the ways in which it doesnt match my experience are only amplified that much more. i think the art and music direction are phenomenal, and the storys greatest strength is also its greatest weakness - there is no way to separate the characters best selves from their worst selves. all we can do is move forward and try to make the choice to live and heal in spite of what we have done when we were desperate and just trying to survive. it feels so anticlimactic and fake sometimes, to be safe on an island away from the chaos, especially chaos you may have helped cause. but there's a moment in psycholonials where zhen breaks down and orders something she really shouldnt, in an obvious state of pain and illness and reality. but the next scene shows her decked out in weapons commandeering military equipment. and its a very brittle reminder that you cannot have one without the other. that wanting others to suffer, even if you have so much reason to, does not come without consequences of who you may turn out to be. if nothing else though, i miss the war. if nothing else, this reminded me of how tantalizing the war can be, how good the most effed up bad can feel, and how strong the pull from ones dreams and ones ego can fuel the ways you inspire darkness in others. i'll need some time to bring myself back to the light again. but it was worth exploring this. it's not often media touches this side of me. i love my friends. they will get me through the aftershock.

Really fun game with a great and well-written story that keeps escalating right up to the end. I was pretty sold by the writing of the first chapter, and then it takes an insane turn I absolutely loved. There are some great twists and real emotional gut punches along the way, but I found the ending really beautiful and it's something I'm sure will stick with me. Andrew Hussie's writing style is as funny as ever, and Clark Powell's soundtrack is very powerful and fitting for the story. I definitely recommend giving it a go. It's a very compelling story about imperialism, colonialism, social media, clowns, the void we all long to fill, and ultimately, love.
