I've been searching for these baby animals since 2008 and I finally found them all. It took me eighteen years but I finally have them all. I was lost foraging in the jungle, surviving overpowering rapids, nearly dying of thirst in the savannah, and buried by avalanches and glacial drift. In all seriousness this game is stunning. My 5080 could barely handle the path and ray tracing with DLAA but we managed to chug through the game. If you want the true Putt Putt experience, you definitely need two 5090s and a Threadripper. My 9950X3D could barely handle the power of Putt Putt. 11/10
I think this is my recommendation for where to start in the Putt-Putt series. It has enough "modern" polish that it doesn't feel as dated as something like Putt-Putt joins the Parade and yet the puzzles are simple enough to be one of a kid's first gaming experiences. I had a lot of fond memories of this series, and this game in particular, from when I was a kid and it has been really nice to be able to share this now with my own child.
I played it only because of a vague sense of nostalgia, but it's still great by today's standards. Both the visuals and animations look gorgeous, even at 2K resolution. You can also interact with many objects and items that aren't part of the main quest, which is pleasant to see. And yes, native Linux version works without any issue. P.S. There's no in-game tutorial, so read the manual to know how to save/load and change some settings (such as enabling subtitles).
Completed in under an hour. Went with the Alligator Green build as I felt it gave me a competitive edge over the other cars. Outback Al uses child labour to fix his Zoo business problems. Putt-Putt being the upstanding young car he is happily helps and saves the baby zoo animals. 10/10 very fun game
