There is so much to talk about with this game. I adore this game so much and it really scratches that Railroad itch inside me. I am a train enjoyer and this game has it all. If you love model railway building, or yard operations, or railfanning or messing around with road vehicles like cars and vans, get this game. And if your ever tired of the in game models you can create your own livery's. And if those aren't enough go to the Steam Workshop where people make some very incredibly detailed models. The game can really get as detailed and realistic as you desire. (at the time I'm writing this) This game also has pretty frequent updates that satisfy every time. Even just quality of life improvements like the recent Gravity Physics Update. This game though is ultimately centered around model trains. Its an amazing model railway building game and is a great substitute for physically building a model railway. Anyone that even just touches the hobby knows that it comes with a large price tag. $20 isn't too bad for a limitless model railway building simulator. Many awesome layouts were created in Rolling line and are available via the Steam Workshop. But then I have to bring up the question of why not buy other model railway creating games? Because all this is made by one dedicated Developer who puts in lots off effort to make this game smooth and reliable and crash-resistant and beautiful. I recommend this game twice over as a model train enthusiasts dream workshop and yard operation simulator. This game also has a lot of cool Easter-eggs (both literally and figuratively actually) to find that make the game fresh when you discover them. Have fun with the game :D

Rolling Line is an amazing piece of software. I don't really want to call it a game or simulation, as it really isn't either, but it is a toolbox to build a virtual model railroad. The amount and quality of tooling is amazing, and there is a good number of props to get you going and maybe make it so that you don't have to make your own. However, if you know how to use Blender, you can easily create your own content and import it. There are a few things that are sort of odd, like no props for people anywhere, so things tend to feel a little deserted. Now, here's the part you need to understand. This is a tool to build a virtual model railroad. This isn't some software toy or tycoon sim where you can lay a few things down and everything looks and works great. It takes time and experience to build a real model railroad, and it takes some time and experience in Rolling Line as well. Start by looking at the official layouts and some of the better workshop layouts. See how they're put together. Go look at track plans for real model railroads and see how they go together before just throwing down some track. Maybe even go look at some real world rail lines and get an idea from those. Don't expect your first few attempts to be great, but if you stick with it for a bit, and understand there is a learning curve, you're eventually going to start putting together some things that look decent and are fun to play around with. That's maybe what is best about this. Besides the cost, time, and space needed for a real layout, you're sort of committed to it once you get started. If you want to change direction and do something totally different, you're going to be ripping a lot of stuff out. In Rolling Line, you can just start a new layout and try something new. You don't even necessarily need to put tracks down. There's some nice looking stuff in the workshop that are just models of terrain. It truly is an amazing piece of software and I have been spending more and more time lately with it than playing normal games. I can't recommend it enough. One last thing - every item in the tool can be moved around if you use the edit option on something. This allows you to easily make multi-level tracks and manipulate object positions and rotations without losing your mind because of snapping. This is a very nice feature and remember it once you get into messing around with it.

You don't need a lot of space, it's very moddable. relatively cheap, and doesn't have any paid DLCS. Yea, I'm looking at you over there Trainz 2019. Point is, Rolling Line is great, because it's a sandbox train game, not a simulator, and for me, a casual sandbox game player, is all I need. things I wish were in the game Multiplayer: I'm working on a map project with a friend, and it's not that easy because there is no multiplayer, so the only way we can work on it is by sending eachother updated versions of the original map save untill we're done. I don't really have any cons to RL, it's just amazing, especially for a indie developer.

This is seriously one of the most well made video games out there! It’s so incredibly fun and has endless possibilities for building whatever you imagine. While it may appear as a model train game, it’s really open to making whatever worlds you can think of. That’s what it really is: A worldbuilding game. Build whole cities, wild west towns, bridges across giant ravines, a highway across an open plain, a gigantic steel mill or a tiny mining site. Link it all together with the automation circuits and make an adventure map! Add in industries to deliver cargo to and from! Build a massive train yard and spend hours switching freight around! I can not say it enough: There is no end to what you can do in this game. The community is amazing too. There are literally thousands of player-made custom trains, props, and other doohickies on the workshop for you to mess with if the in-game items aren’t to your satisfaction. The people are all quite friendly, and you can always get help and advice from the discord members. The game’s solo developer, Franks, is also seriously one of the best game devs out there. He keeps this game regularly updated with new content and bug fixes, all in amazing quality. He communicates with the community so well and tells us about everything that is going on behind the scenes. He just released a major new map AHEAD of schedule! I could never manage to praise this guy and the amazing game he has created highly enough. I personally guarantee a positive experience with this game, especially including its development and community.

although the basegame is lacking in some props and types of trains, it overwhelmingly makes up with the massive modding scene, its fit to model any era and pretty much any country, I highly recommend this game, its simplistic yet charming graphics make it a original, and unique take on the sandbox genre.
