Take classic Mega Man, set it in the Castlevania universe, and replace all the men with women. Rosenkreuzstilette (or RKS for short) is a Mega Man clone through and through. Familiar enemy types, familiar bosses, familiar rock-paper-scissors format, and familiar stage designs. There are some unique touches here and there to mix you up, so even if you are a hardcore Mega Man fan, you'll get your fair share of surprises. The game is littered with references from several games and media, so alongside Mega Man and Castlevania, you might catch a blast from the past in certain sections of the game. Challenge-wise I would say it is not extremely difficult, but it will pose a challenge to even seasoned platform players. Played this back and cleared it nearly 2 decades ago then played it again recently, and the challenge is certainly there. But like every Mega Man game, once you know how to work around stages and bosses, you will gain victory eventually...or just farm E-Tanks and brute force your way through. The length of the game is identical to any Mega Man game, so an average of 2 hours to complete for seasoned players and possibly more for players new to the genre. However, if you manage to beat the game, you will learn about a second game mode that encourages you to try again but with an even greater challenge. In addition, the game has a built-in replay function that allows you to record your game session from where you started to when you finish the game. It also records your time, and there's a Steam Achievement for clearing the game in a certain amount of time. Sounds like a good incentive to clear the game from start to finish without any deaths, doesn't it? What I will give high praise for this game for is its music. From the menu screens to the stages to conversations and even the ending themes, each piece of music in this game is highly memorable and suits the stages and themes well. Perhaps the two things that Mega Man veterans will dislike about the game is that as a clone it is too similar to Mega Man games and that the level design is pretty simplistic. Even then, if you're itching for some Mega Man action, I believe that RKS will be worth your time. I think the game's price is a bit high, and you can get more value off of Mega Man collection games instead. If the game does go on sale though, I say pick it up! Rosenkreuzstilette was one of the first indie games I played, and I still say it holds up well today. If you're a Mega Man fan looking for another similar platformer, then RKS is for you. And when you had enough of this game, well it also has a sequel: Rosenkreuzstilette: Freudenstachel, and that game is even better!

Old school megaman clone with personality/waifus . It's not too difficult to the point of kaizo, it's beatable by exploring your options. It knows what it is, and does a decent job at it.

A genuinely cool mega man style game with a unique art style, some banger music, and fantastic level/boss design. Its a bit jank at times, and there's a lot of direct references to very specific things from across the whole mega man series, but its still a great time regardless.

Cute Mega Man clone that leans a bit too much in the "too hard for its own good" category. If you're a completionist you are gonna suffer, four of the achievements require a good level of mastery over the game, and considering that just finishing the game normally without going for anything special is a good bit harder than any classic Mega Man you can imagine how hard those are.
